NCN Route 8: Trefeca Road
Lon Las Cymru also known as National Cycle Route 8 is approximately 250 miles and runs from Cardiff to Holyhead.
Whilst I do understand that the photo does show a mass produced sign containing a cycle it also contains the number 8 denoting that it is a marker for trail 8 of the National Cycling Network. The photo of the sign is the anchor for the trail as described in the appeal along with the link for the trail. I didn’t really do a very good job in the supporting info in the initial nomination as according to the criteria cycling trails are a valid poi so felt it would be an easy accept for reviewers. I added extra info about the nomination and hoped that appeal info would be enough.
Could others please clarify whether or not these types of nominations are valid points of interest or not to save time for myself and others in future.
Nominate it again with that link you used in the appeal and put it in the supporting information than it should get accepted.

I addition to above, I would put more in the description as it is very short. Say something about this section of NCN8 and why this particular anchor point is relevant - especially if there is a junction decision point.

Bike routes are potentially valid wayspots. But here are a few things:
NCN Routes are often confused with local numbered cycling routes, but NCN Routes are probably more likely to succeed. I’ve seen plenty of things submitted as NCN Routes which are not. In this case, it looks like it is but do supply some supporting evidence e.g. a link to the Sustrans site.
The signs look like they are mass-produced but really they aren’t. Any sign that goes on the public highway has to adhere to certain standards in terms of visibility and safety - that’s why all the signs look similar. Footpath trail markers have a greater variety because they are away from the highway. Wayfarers should be voting on the trail and not the marker.
However, this particular sign is a repeater or route confirmation sign. It’s not as distinct as a sign at a decision point (i.e. where the explorer has to make a turn). This type of sign can be quite common, if there are other similar ones within a few hundred metres I’d be tempted to vote it as being “not distinct”.
Here in the Netherlands there are banned removed offical cycling trails.
Its also not explainable why its there acceptable and here not.
I think it’s harder to get things accepted in the Netherlands because there was widescale abuse and a large number of ineligible wayspots were accepted in the past.
Dont make any sense to give extra disadvantage to all the players that do follow the critiria and guidlines. And wanna create a nice environment for the players.
Lets see how this one turns out
I love any Trail marker.
Thank you all for the advice.
Looks like the appeal has been reassessed and has now changed to accepted.
Once again many thanks for the responses and also to whoever managed to get the nomination looked at again.
