Well, it seems to me that the information about Fado Nights, Art Presentations and Workshops seems to give more cons than pros and in the end I still look like a liar.
But I understand your point of view perfectly.
I did my best, but I can’t give more information than I already have.
What do I need to do? If I change the description, can the nomination still be approved?
Feels like youre asking a bit more than is typical?
I’m able to get cafés and restaurants approved with much less detailed information and no links or proof provided. They’re places I’d consider going to, but not always places I’ve actually visited myself.
I’ll grab a couple of examples. They say “the community” accepted them but they were pretty quick, like 1 day or so, so I’m wondering if it was Emily?
This one was approved this morning by the community. As you can see, I didn’t say much, or do any research beyond having walked past it a lot
This one is a chain of cafés that are situated in a chain of homeware stores. However the location meant it was one of only 2 cafe places within the area, the other being a Starbucks inside a supermarket - the area is very industrial. So being one of the only places to socialise makes it very popular as a place for people to meet up.
I am as opposed to fraud in the Lightship database as anyone could be, but I don’t demand the sort of bona fides you are asking for.
A convincing statement from the nominator about local-sourcing, community involvement and high quality, with a supporting link that shows the business seems capable of supporting the claims, and I am happy to accept the nomination.
If I find a falsehood, i.e. the website says pre-orders for take-away and catered events only, or the location is wrong or cannot be proven at the given address, that’s where I draw the line.
Wow. Provide more information as to why this is a great Wayspot, and that makes some people reject it? That is disheartening. I would leave the information in the nomination, and I think this will be an easy appeal to get accepted if the community does reject it again.
I didn’t suggest that play area in case it was attached to this.
I did not want to confuse a new submitter. Normally, the best supporting photo is a photo as you used showing the poi including more of its surroundings. But since this is clearly there, you could use the supporting photo to show more evidence of the events if they cannot be linked to internet sites. You could show temporary signs like the one in front of the building on street view if they are announcing the event:
or even make a collage including the flyer you were given.
I think I would save that extra step for if this is rejected again and if you appeal it and if that appeal is rejected. I would be very surprised if it is.
And you could go another route completely and try submitting this mural inside the place if you can find it without people blocking it for a main photo
You are asking for a lot of information for one nomination. Respectfully, it’s not that serious. I think majority of the people on this thread see this a a local cafe that would be a good place to socialize. Asking for hours of research is a little silly to me. I 100% value that my local community takes a more common sense approach to reviewing and doesn’t expect nominators to move mountains to get a POI approved. Again, that is why I think my local area has a thriving community, both Ingress and PoGo. With all legit and legal POI’s for all to enjoy.
Nobody is against your opinion we just have different ones.
I don’t think it’s fair or polite to insinuate the op is lying and even if they are that is on me for believing it.
It’s just adding Wayspots not as some grand scheme that benefits humanity, it’s not a charitable effort that needs the help of community members but a large very wealthy company.
Apologies then. It did not come across to me that you suspected that the extra information was not truthful. Completely agree that lies do not belong in a nomination. You can see that my responses were all about how to show information that could not be shown with a link.
Fake and inaccurate information should not be tolerated. Full stop.
My opinion is this, you shouldn’t have to do a half a days research for a nomination. I honestly do not believe a vast majority of the reviewers are looking that closely, mush less opening hyperlinks and reviewing the POI’s webpage. To me that’s just an over the top expectation. But again, no fake information at all.
