UPDATE : it now states this was rejected because it lacked uniqueness / historical cultural meaning?? excuse me? lol this is just goofy. folks rating these are wild.
I’m so tired of perfectly good nominations being rejected… I have to constantly appeal almost every submission. please help. why on earth is this one being rejected now?
it’s a small local business that is not a chain. It’s a really popular local hangout spot. The owner is really kind and stated they would love for their shop to be a pokestop.
EDIT : It has been made abundantly clear that the reason for rejection is likely the description and supporting text is not enough & does not provide enough ‘evidence’ that this would be an acceptable pokestop.
thank you.
None of this comes across in the supporting information, where you should really be “selling” it as a great place for exploration, exercise, or being social with others. Do they do something different to other churro places? Has it been around for a certain amount of time? Use local ingredients? Host events?
So are you saying the only reason this acceptable location, with clear description, location and photo provided, was rejected is because I’m not ‘selling it’ or adding excessive fluff in the description?
This makes no sense to me, as I’ve seen many local eatery spots with far less description be approved.
Is there perhaps something else? or is it really just the description?
You don’t know what the supporting section said on the ones that were approved. We recommend that you put as much information in the description as possible to get people to look at it who won’t bother to scroll to the bottom to read the supporting section.
Yes, it is important to demonstrate this destination is a great place, not just another place to eat.
Here’s one of my supporting information segments. It’s from an Indian restaurant that I recently got accepted.
Submitted as a great place for being social with others. You can see their previous location mentioned in this blog post with their old logo - link and there’s a post here from local food critic about their move - link and you can see their menu here (though prices will have increased) link to see the food on offer.
The place had moved so I had to be clear it now existed at the new location, and make sure I was clear it’s local importance (food critic link) and then thought it was worth adding the menu too. Just sharing as a recent example.
Edit: Just so everyone else knows, if you type something in “thought speak brackets”, these <>, within a quote box, then they don’t appear in the quote box. TIL
I stated everything that is required for a spot to be accepted. it’s very clear from the name, photos, description & supporting text that this is a unique, locally owned business selling unique products – that is also easily accessible with lots of seating.
Things like this is very hard to sell. A lot people lean towards generic business. Its submitter duty to prove otherwise.thats why description and supporting information is critical for giving evidence
I also hate that “Generic business” is a rejection reason. Almost every business I submit has to be appealed, no matter how clearly they meet criteria.
We have given you suggestions on how you might be able to convince reviewers that this really is something special that meets the criteria page example Niantic Wayfarer
Popular restaurants
Favorite coffee shops
Remember the acceptance criteria is
Must meet at least one of the three eligibility criteria
The thing you have to consider is that people who are reviewing your nomination are not necessarily from your local area. I don’t know if Lola is a chain or an independent store. I don’t know if Lola does Churros parties and events within the store. I could spend 5 or 10 minutes looking it up, but if you as the submitter have knowledge that makes my decision a lot easier, including links to sites which backs up your reasons for why this is eligible, people are likely to spend a minute or two in reviewing and accepting. Not everyone wants to spend 5 or 10 minutes looking for things during reviews.
You need to give a lot more information to back up the fact it is a small local business. Websites, Reviews, etc. can go in the Supporting information. Anything that helps you get a positive response.
I did not receive a reason for the rejection. so assuming this is the reason is unhelpful.
You’ve all made it abundantly clear that the provided ‘reason’ must be excessively stated,
and that my provided plain, concise language is not good enough. thank you.
Apparently thats not enough for the reviewer. For the record i am not the one reject your nomination. I am merely giving advise to improve ur nomination. I look into their website and found that its the only store. U should mention this.
