Help with Pokéstop nomination for Pokémon TCG store (Play! Pokémon event host)

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding a Pokéstop nomination I submitted recently.

I work at a Pokémon TCG store located in Bauru - Brasil.
We recently nominated our store to become a Pokéstop, since we are very involved with the local Pokémon community. Unfortunately, the nomination was rejected with the reason that a “similar location already exists.”

However, our store is a unique location, and we are currently working towards becoming an official host for Play! Pokémon events, including Pokémon GO activities. For this, it is important for the store to be recognized as a Pokéstop.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Do you have any recommendations on how I could appeal this or provide stronger evidence (photos, supporting text, etc.) to show that the store is unique and qualifies as a valid Pokéstop?

Any guidance or advice from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :folded_hands:

If you begin a nomination while on site, you can turn the toggle on to see any existing Wayspots. If they are not Pokestops or gyms, they will appear as exclamation points in this screen. You can tap on the exclamation point for more information. It only works when you are right there physically. It does not work remotely.

I would be interested to know what this looks like. There have been a few cases where the appeals team has incorrectly marked a submission as duplicate of an imported powerspot.

Examples of what I am talking about:

Imported PowerSpot

True Wayspot

I tried to pull up the address from your screenshot. If this is the address of your shop, then it will not be eligible to be a Pokestop or gym even if the rejection is overturned. It is in the same L17 S2 cell as another Wayspot, unless that Wayspot no longer exists and nothing else new is in the cell. (This map is out of date now and does not show all Wayspots.)

It would be eligible to be a PowerSpot from what I can see here.

If you aren’t familiar with how Pokemon Go uses S2 cells, this is a good article:

To go along with what @cyndiepooh has said, I couldn’t see anything on IITC (which they used) so looked on Scaniverse’s map too.

There is this

which will be from the Foursquare import that was done. It looks to be on top of the location you gave.

If this business doesn’t exist, you could ask in Wayfarer Help Chat for it to be removed but it wouldn’t result in you getting a PokéStop for your store.

You would be best contacting your local equivalent of this - Run a Play! Pokémon Store & Host Events | Pokemon.com

As official Play Pokémon Store PokéStops can be placed wherever (within the store boundaries) regardless of inclusion rules to my knowledge.
