Help with the mass deletion of points of interest

Hello,

I am contacting you as an ambassador of the community “Pogo Dans Tubize Centre” (in-game name: Ghad79).

I would like to bring to your attention a problematic situation regarding the recent removal of several PokéStops in our area, in Tubize.

After on-site verification by multiple community members, the points of interest in question are still physically present. Therefore, these are not removals due to objects no longer existing or being invalid in the real world.

I would like to particularly emphasize the case of a local artistic mural (location: Google Maps). Following a previous unjustified removal, several members of the community resubmitted this point of interest via Wayfarer. This mural, created with the approval of the municipality and featured in official local communication, was then validated… twice.

Today, although this mural is still physically present and meets Wayfarer criteria, it has once again been removed. This not only results in the loss of the PokéStop but also in the disappearance of important community routes connected to it.

This situation is extremely difficult to understand and accept for us, as it directly impacts a structured local project developed in collaboration with the city and the player community. It also creates the impression that decisions may be made without considering the reality on the ground or the history of the point of interest.

I would therefore like to request your assistance in order to:

understand the exact reasons for these removals,
review the decisions made regarding these POIs,
and, if possible, consider a re-evaluation based on their physical presence and community value.

I remain fully available to provide any additional information (photos, precise location, context, submission history, etc.).

Thank you very much for your attention and your support.

Kind regards,
Ghad79
Ambassador – “Pogo Dans Tubize Centre”

P.S. This message was originally written in French and translated into English. Please excuse any potential inaccuracies or awkward phrasing that may have resulted from the translation.

You can write in any language on the Wayfarer forums. There is an automatic translation button which users can use. We additionally have experienced French-speaking users, such as Wayfarer Ambassador @Xenopus who can assist.

When I follow the Google Maps link, I see what appears to be a Single Family Private Residential Property to me. Will leave to @Xenopus to verify since I have a US point of view. These locations are not eligible. I do not see a mural unless you mean this thing tacked up on their home:

Nvm, I just needed to move down the street. Still looks like an ineligible location for SFPRP.

This mural appears to be on the side of single-family private residential property (SFPRP) and is therefore strictly ineligible.

Wayspots being approved does not automatically mean they are eligible - it means the local reviewers have accepted them, maybe without paying attention to eligibility rules.

Once accepted, anyone can report them. When seeing a report for this mural, Niantic will confirm the removal is correct.

You would do best to not submit this again, since it has been removed twice correctly. Spamming ineligible submission is risky.

It is disappointing to find that murals like this are not eligible, especially when they are facing a public space, but this is a firm rule.

You have said there are other wayspots that have been removed. If you want advice on those, please post the details.

(Welcome to the forums!)

The adjacent land is community property. The evidence was submitted in due course.

Therefore, it’s not private land, and the mural was featured alongside others created by the city in a video promoting the artworks in our city.

Merci. Effectivement c’est plus simple et plus rapide pour moi. Merci

It does not matter about the land, the mural is ON the home:

Highlighting the key clause for this mural.

Another thing I should mention since you are new to the forum, staff will weigh your appeal and decide it. Staff members who have the power to reinstate or refuse will have names that begin with “Niantic”. Anything the rest of us say is just how we perceive the issue, and likely reasons for removal that you need to address. As you are doing.

Mais ce n’est pas une maison uni familiale il y a d’ailleurs 2 boîtes aux lettres. Mais le street view n’est pas a jour.

Now that is something that could help your case, if you can prove it is not SFPRP.

If you can prove this, you can appeal for it to be returned. Since it looks like SFPRP, you will need evidence.

Streetview is from May 2025, less than 12 months ago. They doesn’t deny it now being multi-family, but it means the evidence you present has to be solid. This just doesn’t look like a building that would get converted.

It would be great if it is multi-residence, because that’s a lovely mural!

Hey @Ghad79 ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

ayspots are removed after an investigation by the team if they are in violation of our policies.

That mural is indeed ineligible and we stand by its removal.

This is not a good idea. Spamming ineligible Wayspots can lead to sanctions of their accounts.

If you do not agree with the removal of any Wayspot, you’re welcome to appeal the decision with evidence here on the Forum.

Best,

Ghad asked me if a photo of two mailboxes on the door would be enough evidence that this is not SFPRP - would it be?

I can’t really comment unless I get to see the evidence.
