Historical marker reject, even in appeal

My submission was rejected by the automated process, including the appeal. The appeal rejection claims it is a typical boundary stone, without historical significance. I have tried to make clear that this is a marker for an historical estate that has been gone for a significant amount of time (I’m not sure how long, but at least a hundred years).

The Description in Dutch reads "This boundary stone is the only thing remaining of the former estate ‘Berkenrode’.

Is this submission indeed not eligible, or is there something I should be doing different to get it through?

Welcome to the forums

I find the appeal reviewer sticks with the existing assessment unless there is strong evidence to overturn. Sometimes the review decision means they end up with a result that “this is just an ordinary /extremely unique special object/” which can be frustrating.

I have had consistently good results with boundary stones like this, so I feel it is definitely eligible. You have a good supporting photo (shows the POI, which people often forget) and decent text.

I think you were unfortunate both with the initial community decision and with the appeal, which was worth trying. I would now resubmit unless there is something about your area which means boundary stones like this don’t have the significance they do in the UK.

Thanks for the reply!
Thing is, the initial rejection was automated, and not community driven, so I’m a little worried that of I resubmit it will just get auto-rejected again.

Ah, I couldn’t tell that from the wayfarer screenshot - unfortunately the rejection reasons are in one place and the rejection source (team, community) in another!

It might not have been an ML decision - it could have been an internal review. If it was ML, you will need to take a different photo, because evidence suggests that once a submission has been rejected by ML, a new submission using that photo will automatically get rejected by ML even if the narrative is changed.

I cannot see that resubmitting this will cause your account any problems - at worse, you just get a rejection, but unless there is something I can’t see about this location, the marker is highly eligible.

Thanks for the tip on changing the photo, I ran into that issue earlier without realizing
