I am appealing the ‘Temporary’ rejection status. As seen in the photos, the stone shows significant natural wear and weathering, confirming it has been rooted here for a long time. It is a fixed, historical marker of great local importance, no different from other heritage markers already accepted in the surrounding area.
You can write in your own language if you want, as there is an auto-translation feature available to forum members.
“Temporary” doesn’t always mean what you think. The actual rejection is not “permanent and distinct” and is often because reviewers didn’t see anything eligible. This rejection reason is the one advised by Niantic to select when you want to reject something that you do not see as eligible, but cannot reject for safety or accuracy.
Saying it doesn’t meet Exercise, Social or Exploration criteria does not reject a submission, so sometimes you have to say it isn’t Distinct.
When you get this and don’t understand why, it usually means the reviewers didn’t think it was eligible. If you still feel it is worth of Exploration (or Exercise or Social), look at your submission and see if you provided something that shows this to reviewers.
You can appeal from your wayfarer account. If no appeal button appears when you click on a rejection nomination, it means you have used both appeals and need to wait for one to reappear, which takes 15 days after it was used. You get two appeals, each of which refreshes after 15 days, meaning up to 4 appeals per month.
If you appeal, make sure you address the reason it was rejected. Don’t just say it is permanent and of community value, but provide evidence.
Similarly, if you resubmit, try and provide evidence with links in your supporting text.
You can use an appeal if you wish, personally I like to just resubmit and then appeal if it doesn’t get through.
If it is a historical monument, you could try searching local websites or historical sites to provide background for the wayspot in question. Is it a protected structure? Normally a list of these types of monuments cans be found by searching for protected buildings, structures or monuments and will normally (although not always) have a lot more details on the item in question.
When submitting, provide links to all these sites in the supporting info section of the submission. (Do NOT put them in the description section though)
As reviewers, people can only go on what the have to hand. The more details you provide as to why you believe it to be eligible under one or more of the main criteria the easier it is for a reviewer to make a decision.
In this case I would put something like this under explore with as much background as possible to back up what I am saying it is.
Maybe ask for this to be moved to Nomination support and post your submission details so that others may give you extra advice on how to go about entering this or they may advise to forget it altogether.
There is no official way to appeal an appeal decision. They are intended to be final. Sometimes if the appeal rejection is clearly shown to be wrong, the person posting about it may receive a new email accepting it. But in this case, it seems to be a matter of opinion, so your option here would be to resubmit, as stated in the “Niantic Notes” section. You have had great advice already on how to proceed with a new nomination.
Hi, indeed this isn’t the kind of appeal that can be placed on this forum - I have moved your post to Nomination Support and would suggest sharing your entire nomination for people here to advise on a potential resubmission (or on not resubmitting).
