Historical street plate rejection

Hi,

A nomination I’ve made a few weeks ago has been rejected. A week after being rejected I also received a warning (which afaik isn’t a strike and does not pose a risk for my account to get banned). I don’t understand the rejection reason neither the warning.

I hope the community will be able to provide further insights to the rejection.

Here is the nomination :

Raw nomination text for translation

Name :
Rue des Feuillants - Plaque historique

Description :

Coordinates :
(43.595594, 1.434471)

Here are the rejection reasons :

Raw rejection text for translation
  • Le texte ou la photo présente des insultes, des moqueries ou du harcèlement à l’encontre d’une personne ou d’un groupe en particulier
  • La proposition manque d’originalité ou n’a pas de signification historique et culturelle

Here is the warning email :

Among the rejection reasons, only the second one is legitimate and related to the warning email. The first one, I find abusive, but might have happenned because I heavily emphasised the historical interest of the POI, which might look like I tried to “fake” a nomination.

With that said, I still think this is a reasonable POI :

  • Those plates aren’t the regular street plates (which are visible on the left of the second photo or using street view) ;
  • There are only a few dozens of them accross the whole city center, they aren’t especially common in this area neither ;
  • They come with a fun anecdote which I related in the description and backed with a news article ;

I’ve done this nomination in good faith. Am I mistaken ? Does this plate has too low of an historical importance to be accepted ? Or should I appeal even though I received a warning for it ?

Welcome to the forum

This is just the way the text string reads when a review has been flagged for abuse. You don’t need to worry about more than what was stated in the separate email.

I am going to leave this for others to address as a Wayspot. To me, it just looks like a street sign, and apparently did to whoever sent the email.

This reads like a warning to me, with the “Generic very low severity offense” wording. But personally I always use that “contact us” link to explain why I do believe the “decision was made in error” part. Even if they disagree that it was an error, you can at least explain what your thinking was as to why this would meet criteria as an interesting point for exploration.

Often staff will see a post like this and comment, or send a DM to have a private conversation.

The rejection is correct, as this is just a street sign. There is nothing special about it. Writing a short anecdote about the history of street signs does not change that.
