How do I fix the language on this app?

Recently some things are displayed in an Asian language. The rest is English. How do I get this to change back to English?

I’m using the app, on an iPhone. If you need more info I’ll get it if needed. I couldn’t find any setting to change this and it used to be English but just changed recently.

That’s the link for the Japanese Wayfarer forum that just launched: ニュースとお知らせ - Niantic Wayfarer Community

If it just launched I’m thinking maybe that’s why there is an error on my page. I just can’t read it because it’s in a different language. I was looking for a specific link but I can’t identify it since it’s not in English.

Am seeing the same, although I saw the thread on the forum about it so figured out that it’s Japanese.

I was very surprised that it is a tab on this community forum instead of a separate space.

Hmm, I guess that isn’t quite what it is either?

As far as I’m aware, it’s not an error. It’s just a link to the new Japanese section of the forum, and it’s typed in Japanese because it’s for Japanese speakers. There have been language barrier issues when translating between English and Japanese, so having it typed out in Japanese lets Japanese community members understand what it’s there for and allows them to easily navigate to the new section

It might just be an issue of the placement relative to other items in the bar and the compression caused by a small screen (iphone).

I do not think that the current implementation is good. I think have the Japanese text always present, while useful for Japanese market, can be quite unusual for an English-based audience. The presence of this text also means that there is no space for “Reporting Abuse” and “Wayspot Removals” to appear on mobile devices.

I have modified my page to instead show flags:

And on mobile, I used the smaller size of the flags to bring back the “Reporting Abuse” and “Wayspot Removals” direct links.

Unfortunately, due to forum policies regarding external links, I cannot provide a link here for others to implement the same fix.

I have shared my feedback re: the header with Niantic, as have other Ambassadors. It was a previous cohort of Ambassadors who worked on getting these shortcuts into the header, and I personally think the layout change that was implemented makes these less accessible for mobile users.
