How does wayfarer staff vote?

A theater got rejected for “wayfarer criteria” after just 22 hours.
A well made mural got its appeal rejected because of “vandalism”. Seriously. where??? Where is vandalism??? It’s a mural, with green grass, white aqueduct and blue sky.

And now the only repetitive thing I’m going to hear over and over will be “try again”, while letting players waste their nomination slots.

Yes, I am going to say “try again” but try centering your photos better to include context around the poi to make it more clear what you are submitting. Possibly something like this for the first one

If you are unaware, the timing and the rejection reason indicate this was a rejection by the ML (machine learning ai) model. So making it clearer that you aren’t just submitting a random place on a wall will help get this into community voting, and will help reviewers feel good about accepting it.

I can’t find the second one on the map but it isn’t clear to me at first glance what this is. Did you show the entire mural in your supporting photo?

The second one looks like it’s on a garage door type things that goes up and down (which shouldn’t disqualify it). The appeal staff saying “vandalism” probably means they think it’s graffiti that the property owner didn’t agree to installing.

I agree that the theater was most likely rejected by ML, as it used Wayfarer Criteria as its rejection reason. An improved photo either the sign of the front of the theater would be better. Feel free to post the rest of the nomination, as I think we’d like to see what you put for the description and supporting info.

I also agree with the art, as it seems to be on a roller door, but it’s hard to tell if it was commissioned to be painted on it, or if someone painted it without permission from the owner. I think it would also be good to see the description and supporting info for this one, and maybe even the location for both.

I’m really interested to see the mural.
I think roller art is great and this looks potentially good.

Could you supply the whole of the original nomination
Both photos, all the text and the location so that we can see what the reviewers saw.

As you can see, everything is recognizable: doors, wall, light pole.
Shutter arts are commissioned by owners. The one above is a mural and art. Here’s an example of vandalism:

As you can see, differences are clear since the beginning.

I know theater had been rejected by ml. Maybe it should be the case to discontinue it.

That is a really nice mural a lovely piece of shutter art.
It really ought to have been approved first time.

In my opinion, after seeing the full mural, that one should have been approved. I wonder if Niantic will consider overturning that appeal rejection. This does not look like random vandalism to me. They have said that they want to know when they got it wrong and sometimes will quietly send a new email accepting it.

I got it rejected for another weird reason: it has been considered as a vaporizer store. Is it too difficult to understand that I nominated its shutter rather than the store? Who’s so hard to understand about it?

Plus, this happened to a friend of mine that nominates aswell: luckily, it has been approved to someone else. How can a shutter be considered temporary?

This one considered vandalism or non commissioned graffiti. Are you serious?

Regular business sign? It’s shutter art!!!

Betting and gambling points, tobacco shops, liquor stores and strip clubs clearly aren’t acceptable. YET, their decorated shutters are 100% valid. All these appeals have been valued by Niantic staff. I wonder why they fail to see the point.

Okay for this one I agree with the reviewer. The art represents the store which is an adult location and subject.

This has previously been clarified as incorrect. I will try to find where they said this.

Q52: Places like schools and private property say that we are to deny all nominations on those properties. Does this precident extend to the denials thst we are supposed to do on “Adult orientated Businesses” (strip clubs, liquor stores).

Example, a mural is painted on the wall of a marajuana shop. Are we to deny the mural because it’s on a place that should not be accepted or are we to not worry about what type of business that it’s on?
A52: The guidance from NIA OPS is, “The “businesses” themselves may not meet criteria since they would fall under generic businesses. A mural or candidate not related to the business should be reviewed on its own merit.”

If I had wanted to nominate a marijuana store, I would have nominated it, accepting its following outcome and possible backlash. When submitting a shutter, shutter has to be considered as a piece of art regardless of its content.

Inappropriate content is still inappropriate content, even if art.
