Hello!
So, there’s a wayspot that’s a shopping plaza. It’s accessable for gym fights from the other side of the street, but if I want to scan it for a task, I need to walk closer to it. Problem is: if I walk right next to the building, I lose my gps due to the metal roof and metal billboards that covers the building. If want to be in a distance where I have gps and still close enough for a scan, I have to stand on the road, in the middle of traffic… which isn’t really an option, since I don’t want to risk my life.
I suggested a location change by a few meters, so it would be accessable for a scan from a safe spot. It got rejected. I appealed it, explaining the problem, got rejected again. I made sure the wayspot stays in the cell, and really just a few meters is what it needs and it would be still an accurate location, so I don’t understand why it can’t be moved just a bit.
The building itself takes up 3 cells tho. Is there a rule for big buildings like this that I’m not aware of?
(Weird yellow shape is the actual building, yellow circle is where the wayspot currently is, red circle is what I suggested for a change.)
It looks like it is already at a correct location and you’re moving it for a benefit in a certain game?
This can be considered abuse if that’s the case, so best to leave it where it is.
It would in the correct location if it was moved a bit, but I literally can’t do scanning tasks the way it is now. Currently the game is abusing me by spamming me with tasks to scan this wayspot, no matter how many times I decline it, cause it’s not in an accessable spot right now.
Kind of related, but I have a church that I scan for Overclock on Ingress.
The location of the Wayspot is at the entrance (correct). The signage and what the game wants for the scan/Overclock. So to start the scan I go to the entrance and say to the game to start.
I walk to the sign, place my phone down. It goes “oh, scan failed, retry?” Once at the sign, I retry and then that’s fine.
Maybe you could do similar for this? Scanning is a game feature and not linked to Wayfarer anyways, so as far as Wayfarer cares, the location is correct.
I haven’t tried it like that, but I will give it a shot. What I tried before is starting the scan in the middle of pedestrian crossing just as I get in reach, but the moment I’m on the other side I lose gps signal and get an error for the scan.
Is the wayspot for the whole plaza?
If you were submitting the first time then there are probably several logical places that could have been an anchor for the plaza as a whole. Normally I would have expected it to be the main entrance, but I guessing the centre was chosen because of some feature that was there. Once a correct location is chosen then there is no reason to move it.
Hindsight can be frustrating.
However the fact that your signal becomes problematic is not a reason to change it. Others may not have any issue, or signals could improve.
It is best to just to not try with this one location, there should be others nearby. You can keep an AR task in your research tasks area, and still get up to 3 other research tasks. So since you can’t do the scanning just collect one of those and you won’t keep getting them from other stops.
Yeah, it’s for the whole building. I guess the middle was choosen cause google maps pins the middle for it. But even one of the entrance’s would be a better placement.
It’s just annoying that the only place where I can reach it safely is from across the street in front of McD. But then it’s too far for a scan. My sister also loses gps signal around it, but honestly, I don’t know about other players, cause I don’t really meet them in the area.
Just as a heads up, scan tasks are purely optional, and they don’t take up a space on your research page for a regular field research task (they have their own special slot). As you can only carry one scan task at a time, if you pick one up and just keep it on your research page instead of doing it or deleting it, you’ll only ever get given non-scanning tasks from Pokéstops whilst you’re holding on to it, and as it has its own separate slot, it won’t impact your ability to have 3 regular tasks at a given time.
I know. I just like to get my free poffin per week, haha. I try to spin discs at a different location to get a different scan, but it’s random what task I get.
If you get a scan task with a reward you don’t want, you can always remove it before spinning the next pokestop/gym. Eventually, if you have the patience, you’ll get something you are happy with.
I don’t know if it does any good, but there is an option under “Report Pokestop Issue” for “Not sutiable for AR experiences” if you want to try that.
