Is it worth asking for a Wayspot to be moved under these circumstances?

As you can see in the image below, the Wayspot (which was placed at the current location before Pogo players could submit) is not at the most accurate location. To the majority of players, it’s placed in an area where people can reach it without having to go onto Church grounds (when the gates are open).

My question is…. is it worth asking for the Wayspot to be moved or just leave it where it is? I’m not overly fussed either way. There is a noticeboard near the gate that I would like to submit, and may submit anyway, but don’t want to be seen as gaming the system…. but just wanted to see if moving it to a more accurate position / cell would be worthwhile.

Moving a correctly placed wayspot to another correct wayspot is considered abuse.

Gonna tag @cyndiepooh for a statement? Or something that was said about it.

Either way, you should leave it where it is, being morw accesible is a good way too right?

@AMG7070 is correct. If the pin placement is valid in its own right, moving it to submit something else is considered abuse.

The issue is I don’t know if it’s in the correct place…. I’m not fussed either way, just wanted to make sure before consider requesting it.

If I were going to be an a**hole about it, I would argue it’s located on the edge of the shop on the main road, based on the placement.

A portal for a church that is at the roadside, instead of at the church, is at an OK position. Being at the church would be at a better position. This is therefore eligible for being moved to the actual church. There’s nothing abusive about this suggestion.

Being more accessible does not make a wayspot correctly located.

@P1dg3ySlayer I wouldn’t bother unless the location error is annoying you

I won’t self combust if it doesn’t get moved…. but my OCD is kicking in ever so slightly….

I think I see what you’re saying.

The Church is actually way back here?

Yep. The actual church, rather than the entrance of the road leading to the church, is located at the bottom of the top left cell.

That’s pretty much what I figured from the question. Sleep on it and if the OCD is still twitching in the morning, submit the location move

Sounds like it’s nowhere near the church, and yeah an edit would be an improvement in my opinion.

To be honest, I would suggest you ask in the help chat. That move is over 45 meters and you can get a direct answer from Niantic and explain to them why you want to make the move, personally I think it should be where the church is not the sign.

I was about to say thr same thing. Definitely help chat would be the right place

That way you don’t actually have to worry too much about the absolute ideal thing, as they will validate and ensure its correctly positioned in the new location

It was submitted quite a few years ago….. Would moving it (assuming any request would be accepted) benefit the noticeboard (assuming it gets submitted)….. sure… but there’s also a part of me that thinks if I request a move, would it lead in it disappearing….

I need to sit and calm down a bit.

The current placement to where the church is only occured to me fairly recently…… and now I wish I had never noticed. The church has a blue plaque on it… but don’t know if it’s worth subbing that instead.

You could submit the plaque anyway! I think that’s a separate thing to consider.

If I came across that blue plaque in review, on a church, I will check to see if the church was a wayspot. I would then mark it as a duplicate whether the church is misplaced or not. (I am aware that some people think that every feature on a church can be submitted as a separate wayspot. I am not of that mind.) Just my two cents

Well… that rules out subbing the brickwork. :grimacing:

Not easy to read from the SV image… But it says something along the lines of Jesus Welcomes All.

That is definitely just a proxy for the church. Different to it being a historic blue plaque.

It looks like they have positioned the pin where they’ve taken the photo. If it fits into your calmed mind I’d also see a move as an improvement
