How long it takes for a decision to be reached is very dependent on the submission and the area you live in. If Niantic’s ML (machine learning ai) model picks it up and accepts it, it can be live in a couple of days. If it goes into community review, it can take weeks to months.
If an accepted nomination meets the algorithm to appear in Pokemon Go, it will be added at the “daily” sync. If it doesn’t meet the cutoff time for that day, it may have to wait for the next. I put “daily” in quotes, because sometimes it is skipped.
We can’t currently submit something intentionally to be a Powerspot. What you can do is submit interesting Wayspots. If they are not eligible to be a Pokestop/gym, they may be used as Powerspots.
The Campfire app is a great way to send messages to Pokemon Go friends. I am not sure if it is available globally yet.
If your nomination is rejected, you have two appeals, each on a 20 day timer before you can use it again. If you aren’t showing the “Appeal” button on your nomination, you may just have to wait. I would recommend posting in Nomination Support before either appealing or resubmitting in case there is something disqualifying the nomination you might not be aware of.

Really? I know you had to be invited in originally, but I didn’t think you still needed one. Can anyone who has not used Campfire confirm that an invite is still needed for them to join?

I’m not sure when I was invited in.
This isnt correct anymore. You can just sign-in/create an account with the same info you login with now. No invite needed.
