This was my nomination:
Westamerica Bank
Corporate office of Westamerica Bank, one of the larger community banks in northern California.
I believe that this nomination is important because Westamerica bank is one of the many community banks that serve northern California. The area around these offices have many walkways, paths, and places to sit that is surrounded by greenery and colorful flowers.
The 3 eligibility criteria are:
- Great place to socialise
- Great place to exercise
- Great place to explore
A bank isn’t typically any of these things. On top of that, banks are typically generic businesses, which are covered under the rejection criteria.
Things at a bank can be eligible, including the actual building itself if it’s particularly noteworthy, but the bank as a business generally will not satisfy the eligibility criteria.
Hmm that’s understandable, and that’s even if the area surrounding the buildings have many walking paths and places to sit and rest? Because other business around these building have less paths to walk and they still have pokestops and even a gym.
The kind of business matters. We can discuss an individual one if you want to share.
You can nominate the actual locations that are designed to be social gathering spots for employees, but just having “places to walk around” is meaningless in Wayfarer unless you’re talking about actual trails. (Many offices are putting in walking trails these days.)
There is a health insurance company in my city that has its headquarters here, and the HQ itself isn’t eligible. However, they do have a walking path for employees that includes trail markers and picnic areas; the trail markers and picnic areas are eligible, and some are currently Wayspots.
So if that’s the case, would that be a better way to describe the area surrounding the business in order to get a waypoint? If not is there any other suggestions that would be able to get a waypoint/pokestops to be set up?
We can look around at the area if you want to share it, but don’t feel you have to reveal your location. Depending on the kind of area you are talking about, this clarification might apply:
These are some of the spots where you can go on a walk/sit. There’s a bunch more picnic tables under the shade but there where people sitting there so I didn’t want to take pictures of them. One of the flower beds here is also a memorial. A lot of the walking paths are also surrounded by trees, so in the summer it’s not too bad walking around the business campus since there’s shade everywhere.
All of these look like lovely locations, but all of them might struggle.
you could try submitting this as a picnic area
is this just some landscaping? not sure that is eligible
this seems like random sidewalk. is there a point of entrance to a marked path?
is this a rose garden with seating? you might could get that accepted as a place to be social, but the photo would need to be more focused on the garden than the sidewalk through
This is my favorite of these photos, but what is it? maybe submit it as a pergola or covered walkway but i am not sure.
with all these lovely locations in the business area, is there a sign for the center? you could try to submit that as a destination. check out Criteria Clarification Collection to get ideas on how to submit all these
Thank you for the ideas I’ll for sure check out the clarification collection. Here is the memorial I did mention though, since no one was sitting there. There’s a plaque indicating who it’s for as well as the garden/flower bed surrounding it. I’m sure you can also see the picnic tables in the back that I mentioned.
really pretty. find out who this person was and submit that if they are significant at all. that doesn’t look like a generic memorial plaque
