I encountered a bug: the disappearing Portal

  • Wayspot Title: MWD Cafe & Brunch
  • Location (lat/lon): 24.127003, 120.665537
  • City: Taichung City, Taiwan

This Wayspot was approved several days ago, but it has not appeared in Ingress. I have already checked and confirmed that there are no overlapping Wayspots at this location, so logically, this Portal should be visible in Ingress.

Could you help check if there is a bug? Especially since I used my upgrade points to resubmit it, but it was marked as a duplicate. When I appealed, I was informed that this Wayspot already exists, yet the Portal is still not appearing in Ingress.

Please assist in checking whether there is a bug preventing the Portal from being generated in Ingress. I would really appreciate your help in ensuring that my submitted Portal successfully appears in Ingress.

Thank you for your assistance.

Can no one respond to me? :sob: I really want to know if this is a bug, because it has become a ghost Wayspot—it won’t generate a portal, even though it’s clearly not overlapping with any other Wayspot.

Based on the co-ordinates you provided, I found this.

Unfortunately, your nomination won’t make it into Pokemon Go. Why it isn’t showing up in Ingress is something I can’t answer. I don’t know if there is a sync issue with Ingress.

But u said its duplicate right .. so its not approved.

Or do i miss something here?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I understand that it won’t appear in Pokémon GO, but it should appear in Ingress, and it doesn’t—that’s why I wanted to check if it might be a bug.

Thank you for your question. The first submission was marked as successful, but the Wayspot did not appear as a portal in Ingress. So I believe the submission might not have actually gone through properly, which is why I submitted it again. I then received a duplicate notice, but since a long time has passed since the first approval and the portal still hasn’t appeared, I wanted to ask if there might be a bug preventing the portal from being generated.

Well the coordinate is correct . I am not sure why it doesnt appear. Maybe niantic team know better.

Thank you. This is indeed the dilemma I am facing, which is why I came to the forum to ask if this might be a bug causing this Wayspot to become a ghost point, preventing it from generating a portal in Ingress. I hope to get an answer… I feel confused and discouraged because the Wayspot I submitted hasn’t appeared in Ingress :sob:.

Since Niantic can’t help you
(my other two bug reports are also not fixed at all-_-)
You might as well apply for the mural in front of this store!
If the general review fails, It should be OK to appeal..

既然N社沒辦法幫你
(我另外兩個bug反應它們也完全沒修-_-)
你乾脆就申請這家店門口的壁畫吧!
如果一般審查不過
用上訴的感覺應該也OK

There were Wayspots imported for Pokemon Go that Ingress chose not to use. This must be one of those Wayspots. That would explain why you didn’t see it in Ingress, but it was marked as a duplicate.

Going to tag @PkmnTrainerJ who is more on top of that situation with wayspots not used in Ingress situation that I am to see if this is an area where this happened.

The Ingress inclusion rule is not based on S2 cells but is 20 meters. If a POI is less than 20 meters from another POI only one will appear in Ingress. Interestingly, they can both appear in PoGo if they are in different L17 cells.

right the wayspot here is not within any 20m circle

IITC is based on Ingress. If a POI doesn’t meet the Ingress inclusion rules, it will not show in IITC. It’s possible that there’s another POI between the 2 which does not appear because it’s within 20 meters of both. The only way to know is to submit with the switch turned on during the submission.

According to the official map(Lightship), there is no other wayspot within 20 meters of this wayspot OP mentioned. What you see at IITC is the original appearance. Unless you think Power Spot can also prevent Ingress Portal spawns :joy:

I understand iitc is ingress portals. There is no blocking Wayspot on the GeoSpatial Browser:

All of the others are portals.
