Appeal to remove wayspot

  • Wayspot Title: Placa Toponímica em azulejo - Rua da Creche

  • Location (lat/lon): 38.73400182113126, -9.39202320871398

  • City: Lisbon

  • Country: Portugal

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): item does not meet the criteria (as it is a generic street plaque which exists in every single street from the whole country)

Hi, welcome to the forum!
I have not looked at your wayspot but just wanted to point out that this sentence is neither correct (a wayspot that doesn’t appear in Ingress could have been submitted through whichever game; all accepted wayspot nominations end up in a central database, called Lightship, to which specific games then apply their own inclusion rules to select wayspots; even if you suspect it’s Pokémon GO-related abuse, it can be done through any game), nor relevant for your appeal (what game something is submitted from is not a valid argument for the removal of something).

I would suggest amending your appeal to only include relevant information, for the best chances of success. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads-up, I did rewrite/changed the post, hope it fits better the appeal process

By any chance is this one of the new power spots that your reporting,I looked into your co-ordinates and you are correct it doesn’t show up via Ingress so I’m curious what it has become in Pokémon Go or other Niantic Projects.

But as @Xenopus said not every Wayspot makes it into every game and I haven’t looked on alternate maps or through the dreaded cells.

Nope, what I’m reporting is an actual pokestop.
I also found it weird for being a pokestop and not showing up on ingress, but I did check the submitter (name of the submitter on the picture of the pokestop) and it showed up as an actual name (which doesn’t happen when it is created from a portal)

It isn’t weird that it shows up in PoGo but not in Ingress. It is within the 20m circle of another portal, so can’t show up in Ingress, but is in a separate L17 cell, so is eligible to show up in Pokemon Go.

As far as the name of the submitter, it will show in Ingress if submitted in Ingress. It will show in Pokemon Go if submitted in Pokemon Go, as long as the submitter has not chosen to hide their name. (Unless the original photo has been removed.)

Just to confirm it is in the database

Gimme that database access lol :joy::laughing:

@cyndiepooh where do you find those pogo actions & wayfarer plugins as I can’t find them in my IITC app ??

There is an additional tool you need for the extra stuff - pogotools. If you search for it you will know you have the right tool if you see @NvlblNm 's name. The readme for it has instructions. I was not allowed to post the link to this kind of file for internet safety.

Thanks for the appeal, @zh0ukun.

Edit: After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.

@NianticAtlas just to get things straight then, does that mean that every single street plaque (which exist in every single street of Portugal) meet the criteria of a portal? (Just wondering because i’ve had numerous submissions rejected and it is the general consensus of most of the local reviewers to reject these)

A rejected appeal is a rejected appeal, not a statement about what is eligible or not. You will find that criteria for removal are not always aligned with rejection criteria.

Appeal decision are not and should not be used as nomination criteria

Thank you once again for the appeal, @zh0ukun, and for the valuable input from the ambassadors and the community. During our further review, we uncovered additional information regarding the Wayspot in question. As a result, we have made the decision to retire the Wayspot.

We would also like to remind everyone that appeal decisions, while informative, should not be interpreted as nomination criteria. Each case is evaluated on its own merits, and these decisions do not serve as a general precedent for the eligibility of similar submissions.
