I would reject that on the grounds of the picture being off centre by 2.5°
I expect this kind of snark from @seaprincesshnb! Not from you!! lol
@cyndiepooh What’s funny is, this is not a “generic plaque” I’ve seen several versions in different stores. They all tell a unique story about the founder. I think that’s the value my local reviewers saw and appropriately approved my nomination.
Nice submission. Those aren’t in every chain either! There are a lot of restaurants that may have unique things that are definitely acceptable but people are missing when submitting. I remember there even used to be statues of Ronald too. I’ve seen some of the unique old McDonalds arches submitted in the US as well while traveling
this is why i asked for the description
please note that i said i reject generic plaques, not that i would have rejected this one. i can’t read the screenshot well enough to see what it says to see if it is one of the many that come up on google search. descriptions matter
Yeah, I get it. We gotta sell the nomination. UGH. But, it does open up opportunities for non-traditional locations, such as fast food to have a legit POI with a really cool informative, educational story.
The problem is that many McDonald’s have that exact plaque, so it’s not really unique or interesting.
However, i did vote to approve what looked like a fairly new indoor playplace recently. Looked like a very cool place to climb.
As someone that once worked at a McD’s, these plaques are in every single McD’s. I don’t know how many different Ray Kroc plaques I have seen at McD’s. McD’s may update them from time to time, but there is one installed at every location. I would say you got lucky with this one.
As opposed to the literal 50000 identical playgrounds I’ve got on the map or the 50000 identical Southern Baptist Churches. I guess I should just take luck on my side and not talk about the other plaques I’ve done.
Yes, many playgrounds have similar designs, but if they are at a church, a park, an apartment complex, etc, I don’t see them as generic. Besides, they are great places for kids to get exercise, and kids and their parents can also socialize.
I see the Ray Kroc plaques as generic as there is a version of them at every single McD’s. These plaques are not distinct, they are in a chain business, and are really just another way for the business to advertise. They don’t meet criteria IMO.
I mean, just doing a search for them shows they have been in McD’s for decades, with almost the same design, and some from stores that have been torn down have been sold online (found a few eBay listings).
Again, yes, you got lucky with reviewers. I see many nominations for similar plaques are other chain businesses about the history of the busienss, and I reject them as I know they are in every single business and not distinct.
I have 21,978 postboxes I’d like you to look at…
Ah yes, the UK postboxes debate…
