What a joke

I have been trying to nominate several spots in our area including a 7-eleven store for months now and they keep auto rejecting. Appealing doesn’t even work.

And now they decided “ok let’s make all 7-elevens pokestops/gyms now.” Because they have a parnership with pokemon all of a sudden.

Just wow.

Sponsorships have nothing to do with eligibility. I cant imagine a circumstance where a normal 7-eleven would meet criteria.

I mean…If a mcdonalds next to a busy highway, and a huge balloon display of an anime character inside a mall is eligible, then what makes a 7-eleven not within criteria then?

Maybe those dont meet criteria either. A nomination must be a great place to socialize, exercise or explore. A 7-eleven is just a chain convenience store that meets neither of those.

Back in the 1980s, 7/11s were a great place to hang out. Video games! Comic books!

McDonald’s don’t generally meet the criteria either and most that are in Pokémon Go are also due to a sponsorship deal.

Hello and welcome,

7-Eleven and McDonald’s are both generic businesses, as they are chains and can be found quite easily. There is clarification on generic businesses here:

I’d also recommend reviewing Wayspot criteria, so you better understand what may be accepted:

As others have noted, some large businesses have sponsored Wayspot deals with Niantic, which means they pay Niantic a certain amount to have Wayspots at their locations. As Wayfarers, we have no control over which locations have or don’t have Wayspots.

One of the best examples of the sponsored Wayspots are at some Starbucks locations in the US. In December 2016, Starbucks had a sponsorship with PoGo to have stops/gyms at some of their locations, as well as feature a special drink. While the drink promotion has ended, the stops are still up in PoGo, but no new ones are being added by Starbucks or PoGo. Most likely Starbucks, PoGo, and Niantic would have to work out a new sponsorship deal to add new Wayspots; same goes for 7-Eleven and McDonald’s, who have also had sponsored Wayspots in the past in different countries.

The exception to this right now are Power Spots in PoGo, as most are being imported from third party sources, with some coming from unused Wayspots. This is also something Wayfarers do not have control over currently.

The way the economy is generic business are all that will be left soon

Hello and welcome @Silvercross00
Having submissions repeatedly rejected is a frustrating experience.
It feels inituitve that if you see something in the game then it must be eligible.
However for all the reasons given this can be misleading. The wayfarer element is creating wayspots, that can be used in any Niantic game. If you want support to find and submit wayspots that are more likely to be acccepted and be available in the game then we are very happy to help.
There are wayfinders who have learnt from past mistakes and are happy to pass on their knowledge.
So please post in Nomination Support
And before you go any further make sure you understand about how Pokemon Go selects wayspots from those approved.
