I want to replace a POIs photo, description and title

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Hunk o’ Junk

  • Location (lat/lon): 47.518642,-122.103851

  • City: Newcastle (issaquah alps hiking trail)

  • Country: USA, WA

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): ok so this is a bit weird but there is an existing point at this coordinate. And I submitted another waypoint for the thing described by that sign. However it was created 10 years ago. So the existing informative sign has long ago perished. But the man made thing that the sign described is still there. I was hoping to update the pokestop to change the subject of the pokestop to the object, to change the description so I could add information which was likely on the sign and immortalize it on Pokémon go. And change the title from blank sign to the object itself. I titled it hunk o junk as it’s inspired from a geocache in the area, and thought it was a fun way to spark curiosity as well as an adequate name.

Here is the description: “This is a relic of 1920s railroad logging. To harvest the trees, Washington Lumber & Spar rigged the first skyline in the Pacific Northwest, adopting a system first used in Alabama. This piece of iron, or this Hunk o Junk, was part of a spar pole, which supported a cable that ran to another spar pole a quarter mile north, across the valley in a landing at the end of Fred’s Railroad Trail. Powered by a donkey engine at the landing, the cable carried logs high over the valley, dangling in the sky.”

Edit: realized on post that my email was showing so retook the screen shot

I am confused. Are you trying to appeal a rejected nomination? You do that from the contribution on your contributions page at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/nominations. We get 2 appeals, each on a 15 day counter before we can use them again. If you don’t have the button, you do not have an appeal to use.

The purpose of the Wayspot Appeals catergory is explained here:

We can advise better about next steps if you post screenshots of the nomination. The Nomination Support prompt asks:

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected
  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
  • Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
  • If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.

The only Wayspot I see near the coordinates you gave is this one.

opps i put the wrong way points in. Sorry i wrote them down wrong, but definitely contributed them in the right spots. I think these are the right coordinates: 47.521457, -122.116360

But basically i created another new waypoint, so it would be simpler to review then trying to change the title, to change the photo and to change the description. And technically the title was wrong before, because it wasnt necessarily an engine frame.

But the primary picture or object at the way point isnt accurate anymore.

I am still confused. This is the wayspot you just linked to.

This is the other photo on that Wayspot.

I am trying to be very careful here because “repurposing” a Wayspot is something that Niantic considers to be abuse. It looks like the Wayspot is for the “Logging Engine Frame” and that point of interest still exists. Is this correct?

I think that the way I would handle this is to submit a description edit for this wayspot that has the information you used on your rejected nomination. If you don’t think the photo with the sign should be on the wayspot now, you can ask help chat to remove it with evidence. But it looks like a new submission for the “Hunk of Junk” would be a duplicate. Is that what it says on your contribution?

it got rejected due to the ML algorithm. But i expect if it were just appealed it would be rightly marked as a duplicate. But cause the sign no longer exists, and there is no way to prove that in the niantic system the engine would never be accepted as the primary object (even though that is all that is left). You can see the “engine frame” in the first photo, but the main photo is that of the sign. The point of me submitting the request for a new way point was more to log that i was at the location.

but yeah the engine still exists at the location, but the sign no longer does. And the title is inaccurate as its more like the base of a contraption, not an engine frame

I just found and submitted the help ticket. Thanks for clarifying that exists, and pointing me in the right direction as I had just thought this might have been the only place to go.
