I had a couple of ideas on how to spice up image reviews, and I wanted to throw them out there and see what people thought
Idea #1 - Change the voting to a ranking system
The idea would be that if we are reviewing all of the photos, and the new one is better than all of the old ones it should get ranked higher. Then when all is said and done, the highest-ranked photo becomes the image on the Wayspot and that feeds all of the games.
No more thumbs on photo’s, no more thumb wars, just the community voting for the best photo.
Idea #2 - If enough people “Reject” an existing photo, that photo is then removed from the Wayspot once voting has been completed.
I don’t know how many times I’ve had to replace old pictures of Wayspots with half a car in them, or that are tilted, or are just plain awful. I think if enough people “reject” a Wayspot photo it should be removed from the Wayspot.
Thoughts?

Not awfully keen on the first option.
The area that feeds for reviewing photos is large, so not the local community. Yes you can send postcards so that votes come from an even bigger area but I think a lot come from true locals.
The second one has more merit. Before I found out otherwise I expected a rejection of a photo to result in its removal. So that appeals.

As said, idea 2 has more behind it. It would help to easily get rid of the grey box generic image for any 4sq imports too when a new photo is added.

Yeah, I like idea 2 as well. If reviewers reject the photo, it should be removed. This would also cut down on photo removal requests, which I don’t mind doing, but no doubt there are other things that take higher priority for staff than a photo removal.

I’ll be honest, the further into typing out idea 1 the less I liked it…

I’m a great believer in saying things out loud as a sense check.
But I do think it’s worth throwing ideas out there. Some good ideas have come about just because people started talking and a good idea is born.

It’s funny you say that, I said almost the exact same thing on the podcast this week LOL

I’d like, if the thumbs would get reseted. Maybe once a year. The last displayed could remain until new votes are pushing another
