Whether it’s pokemon go and you are 1 more POI from a GYM or Ingress and you need one more POI under your control.
How many of you recheck areas you know there are no eligible POIs just hoping someone made a new eligible POI because you want one there.
As a Pokemon Player, Red Cells needing one more POI are my bane when they are close to where I live.
Better yet, anyone that does this get lucky and something was added?

Yes, I recheck if I notice something is close, and yes I can usually find something. Maybe something new has been added irl, or maybe they have made a clarification that something is eligible that I hadn’t considered. So proud of my third gyms.
To be clear, i don’t submit something that isn’t actually there in real life.
What do you mean by “red cells”?

I’m aware of at least one cell map that can be customised to shade Level 14 S2 Cells a specific colour when they’re close to having a new gym. I assume red is the colour on whatever map they’re using that indicates when they’re one away from the next Gym.

Really, I see most of the submissions while reviewing, and do later check those areas to see if they got approved. I tend to be the last to find many new eligible POIs where I live, but I have found many while in my rural hometown, although not all are in game, but I’m ok with that.
I’ve been more focused on edits, especially for Wayspts with no descriptions or low-quality photos.
Absolutely.
I have spent hours walking every street, alleyway round and round parks, looking up, looking down……, what’s that poking out under the mud?
Sometimes things I’ve walked past 100 times in the dark suddenly seeing it differently in the day. Turning a sow’s ear into a silk purse with research.
There is stuff out there waiting to be found.
Go find it

Me. Again and again and again and again. Sometimes I find something new that I never saw or was not there before (like a mural or a freshly painted utility box), and I found several legit trail markers that I HATE but I will definitely nominate sooner or later if they keep denying better and nicer looking nominations again and again (like playground sets, and picnic area’s (neighbourhood meeting points that are 50/50 approved).
My goal is actually to capture the beauty of the village in the map, but criteria and individual wayfarers force me to make it an ugly road map. Still, I keep trying.
What REALLY ‘hurts’ are the nice , important and pretty spots that are in the cell of another one, surrounded by eight completely empty cells…

I’m probably an oddity as I never check cells or how many more are needed to spawn whatever.
Just “I believe this is eligible” and nominate it exactly where it is.
Even if it’s close to something already live. It may help in future (I saw this recently when a POI that got moved was removed from the maps, and there were already two things on the map (LS-only) ready to take the place in respective games).

I do that! I specifically go out on walks in certain areas to try to find eligible things to nominate - I’ve been pretty successful too! My local community normally tell me what area they need stuff in and I go a looking. For example, we had one area of town, most residential, that had a single King George post box. I managed to get added a chippy, 2 playgrounds, 2 allotments, 1 trail marker, 4 Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee trees and one memorial tree for a highly prominent member of our community. We had a canal that’s a beautiful walk, but there was nothing down there except an old Pillbox nearby - we now have 5 gyms and multiple stops after I went for a couple of walks
It’s amazing how much more of the world I’m seeing now I’m looking for things to nominate. I’m sure our local group is fed up with me constantly sending through the screenshots of the congratulations emails, but I just seem to have a lot more luck getting things accepted than others do.
