Hello fellow wayfarers!
Dont know if this has been discussed before but shouldnt be some kind of rewards be given for correcting or improving existing wayfarer spots (Updated pictures of the spot, correction of typos, correcting a name, fixing a location, reporting a wayfarer spot not existing anymore? Like maybe every x amount of approved corrections get a 1% torwards upgrades?

@TjoeMi Spam edits could take place, but staff has outlined what spam edits are considered, and that they are able to detect them.
We did have an Edits Challenge about a year ago, which encouraged us to edit existing Wayspots, and depending on how many were submitting and approved depended on the rewards that we received. We don’t know if another challenge ike this will happen in the future, but it certainly got us out and about to update the map.
We currently do not get any rewards for new Wayspots getting approved, other than the possibility of them being added to PoGo, but not guaranteed due to the S2 cell system used. We can gain upgrades when reviewing to apply to nominations and edits in hopes of them being resolved sooner. And, if there is a challenge, there are rewards based on how well we all do and how well we do as an individual.
Rewards for certain actions in Wayfarer isn’t a new suggestion, as others have suggested different things from time to time. It’s really up to staff to decide if it will be something that will be implemented.
That was a curious challenge because editing-from-a-distance is dead easy in Ingress and very hard in PoGo. I could sit at home and watch the Ingress scanner for tens of kilometers around and improve the titles/descriptions without going anywhere, in PoGo you have to be within 80 meters of the wayspot.
In PoGo I am often frustrated by terrible titles, descriptions and photographs which nobody thinks to update. Even when new photos are available in PoGo, few people vote on them. I’d love to see a VOTE sticker for gifts in PoGo to encourage people to vote for photos.
But personally I think improving the game is its own reward. Better descriptions help players understand the world around them, a better photo is sometimes an unexpected surprise. And of course if it’s your photo you’ll get a tiny amount of kudos sometimes from other players.
The Roadmap has noted that there is going to be an increase in distance for nominations, and I’d think this would apply for edits as well.
I could care less about getting rewards for helping to build the map, as well as clean it up and update it. There’s a lot of people who want something in return for doing something, but sometimes the reward is knowing that you are making improvements and helping others.
I have made several edits and I have done them as I would prefer a more accurate map but if a system could be created that would give something for the effort I would gladly accept it.
In regards to spam, these should be removed in Review, I would also suggest the software could differentiate a “small” edit (added full stop, capitalised a word) from a full re-write.

In regards to Photos I am a strong believer that votes should be deleted after a certain length of time. A photo that was excellent in 2016 and highly voted due to the initial craze might not represent what it looks like now but almost impossible to get enough votes to replace 
Since is on Niantic Wayfarer and used by other games an upgrade for a nomination of yours I think should be more appropriate.
We don’t get any in-game rewards for wayspot submissions, so it is a stretch to hope for/expect/want in-game rewards for edits. Ingress had a nice way of doing it with the tiered medal.
I dont think niantic will give tier medal for edit as well. Edit are limited. Once you edit, it supposed to last very long time. In fact edit only rarely happen if submitter ald done good submission.
