I’d like to share a frustration I often face as a Pokémon GO player who actively contributes to Wayfarer. When I visit interesting places, I usually take photos with the intention of submitting them later. However, once I get home and try to nominate them, I often find the location is more than 10km away, making it impossible to submit through Pokémon GO.
Unlike Ingress, where players can nominate from anywhere, Pokémon GO limits nominations to within a 10km radius of your current location. I understand this may be to prevent abuse, but for honest contributors, it’s discouraging — especially when visiting places outside of urban centers or while traveling.
In fact, out of frustration, I once made the mistake of using spoofing just to be able to nominate multiple legitimate locations I had visited — which quickly led to a ban. I fully accept the consequences of that decision, but I believe it highlights how restrictive this system can feel to dedicated players who want to contribute positively.
It would be great if either:
The distance limit could be increased or removed, or
Give Pokémon GO players access to the full Wayspot map (like the Intel Map in Ingress) to help plan nominations and avoid duplicates.
Enable the option to edit locations and images, of our nominations, on the Wayfarer site.

Hi! While I am very, very much in favor of extending the Pokémon GO submission radius to at least achieve parity between the two Niantic games that used to have Wayfarer access, I don’t think it’s correct to say Ingress players can nominate from anywhere
Ingress wayspot nominations do (well, did - they are not active right now) certainly benefit from a larger radius, but that radius is 25km, not anywhere in the world. Let’s start from a correct comparison in this suggestion
Sorry, I don’t know much about Ingress — I honestly thought it had no nomination distance limit. Even so, 25km is definitely better, but sometimes still not enough. There are times when I travel to other countries without a local SIM card or internet access, or even when I do, I prefer focusing on exploring rather than nominating. In both cases, I end up wanting to submit the nomination once I’m back home — but that’s not possible due to the distance restriction.
An increase would be reasonable, but removing the distance limit entirely (or making it so large as to be meaningless) would be open to abuse and would be abused.
Agree, the 25km radius is much better. When I’m wayspot hunting, it’s rarely within the 10km radius of me because most of those have been found already, I rarely have a problem with it being outside the 25km limit of Ingress though.
However, I only use it for resubmissions because I’d sooner be standing at the spot where the wayspot it, then upload it later and edit the text in Wayfarer.
I was fed up with having to clean up the previous edit challenge with this review challenge, but I would like to be able to edit the title and description and suggest pictures as far as they are visible on the game. I don’t want to type text on a small device in cold or hot weather with mosquito bites.
Increasing the radius would be nice. I hope this would also include the unseen waypoints in Pokemon Go-- I mean the orange exclamation marks in the nominating map. I’d welcome this quality of life improvement because I’ve unknowingly nominated dupes before… And wasted precious upgrades on them lol. I keep forgetting to check first once I’m at the nomination’s area
I have a fairly low end Android that has strict RAM management so regularly closes pokemon go when switching to either the camera or gallery for the images.
My suggestion would be to allow you to just do the location and Title “on site” then select “I will complete later”.
Close PoGo, Take Images, Sort at home through wayfarer.
Also think the chance to do a bit more research will improve Descriptions / Extra Info.
It happens with my phone too — I always have to take pictures and convert them first before I can nominate wayspots.
I also agree that having more time to do some research would really help improve the quality of the descriptions. I try to contribute by editing them on Wayfarer. But unfortunately we can only edit text, not images or location.
This is a huge reason I much preferred submitting through Ingress. The range was much larger and the map could be zoomed further. I could take several pictures and then take my time to pick the best, research and write a well crafted description with good supporting information. Now that we are only able to submit in Pokemon Go, this is much more difficult and I fear will result in lower quality submissions as people rush to do them in-situ or struggle with patchy connection issues.

It was where I started
It had the 25Km submission distance
you didn’t have to categorise
All of these made taking pictures and enjoying your walk/explore much nicer. to allow submitting later from home on a good connection in the dry.
I shall miss all that and would love to see it on the pokemon Go submission system…

I don’t disagree but I think the distance is not the issue.
If it would allow us to upload “Location” and “Title” whilst at the location then deal with the images, discrption and extra info when we return home I wouldn’t mind the distance being within the 10 metre rule.
Well sometimes u nd to submit multiple nomination in one go. While this might be rare nowadays, its possible to find area thats untouched and have dozens possible nomination. If u can upload later many nomination, it would be good. Normally i just focus on taking all photo and just submit later when i return.
Good point, just using me as an example as I am not prolific and have only nominated about a dozen times.
My suggested process would work perfect for me as it would make it easy to make sure I have the location correct but still not have to contend with the phone closing PoGo when it opens the camera / gallery.
Obviously, everyone works differently but it is all about me…
D’accordo con l’aumento del raggio di azione per pogo magari come ingress 25 km è molto buono, per la mappa con tutti i waystop la chiediamo da almeno 6 anni da quando si può richiedere da pogo ma niente quindi non so se la faranno mai (anche se c’era l’app mai uscita ufficialemente) per il terzo invece cambiare posizione e immagine penso sia abbastanza inutile poiché se aumentano il raggio conseguentemente penso che fai tutte le tue proposte in un posto tranquillo e con il wi-fi e per il cambio immagine invece ritengo sia inutile perché se non fai una foto che ti soddisfi o che è buona stai sprecando una candidatura perché non stai facendo nei migliore dei modi la domanda.
