Additional Information (if any): This electrical transformer does not meet Wayfarer criteria. I have no idea how it was approved, yet it has been a PokéStop for several years.
Hi @HandaTakuya
Have you done an ingame report?
If yes, please add a screenshot of your rejection email on here.
If no, please do first an ingame report.
I’m sorry I didn’t report this directly through the game. A friend of mine from the local community who lives nearby submitted a report via Ingress a long time ago, but it was never removed. Today, another player referenced this Wayspot to support the approval of their own nomination, so I decided to report it here instead.
If you do not live in the area, you can try to report the Wayspot either via the Reporting Abuse link at the top of the forums, or via help chat on the Wayfarer website. Not only does this seem to not meet criteria, it could also be somewhat of a safety issue, which it seems the poles indicate this.
Wayfarer and Ingress have split from each other, due to the sale to Scopely and the new Spatial keeping Ingress. I’ve reported invalid portals since the last sync, and none have been resolved. So, it could take some time to get it removed from Ingress currently.
These Wayspots are invalid. The photo clearly shows an electric transformer, and the name of the Wayspot “ร้านมหาเจริญ” does not belong to any well-known restaurant or café. Why does Roy want to change the photo of the Wayspot when “Maha Charoen” restaurant doesn’t even exist? There is nothing at that location that qualifies as a valid Wayspot — not even the apartment building.
The Wayspot submission was connected to the shop (cafe?) next to the transformer visible in the streetview.
We do not have any evidence suggesting that the shop/cafe has been closed permanently. If it is, please reply back to Roy with evidence and they will take necessary action.
This may be a case where someone in that area may have to take a geotagged photo or Scaniverse splat to prove that there isn’t a restaurant here, as it seems that there may have been one at one time. It seems that instead of having the Wayspot removed for the restaurant no longer being there, someone is trying to repurpose it for the transformer, which typically isn’t allowed.
@NianticAaron Looking on Street View around 13.668186147172285, 100.68077243730207, I do see that there used to be some kind of shop at this location. The last update of Street View in July 2024 shows this location for sale or lease, so it appears that it closed sometime between October 2023 and July 2024.
Even with this evidence, staff do tend to want more recent info, such as a geotagged photo or splat, before removing a Wayspot. Even a recently taken photo may work, not one that is geotagged, since this area is on Street View.
In June 2019, the place at that location was just a general grocery store — not a restaurant and not a café. General grocery stores do not meet Wayfarer criteria. From August 2016 to August 2017, it was an ordinary rice shop, which I also believe does not qualify under Wayfarer criteria.
If we check the location using Niantic Lightship’s Geospatial Browser, the 3D scan of the area shows only a road, sidewalk, and an electric pole. It is highly likely that there has never been any actual shop at that spot.
Additionally, the description of this Wayspot — ‘เล่ายอมจัยเจริญชัยพบปะสังสรรค์ทุกยามเย็น’ — includes the phrase ‘เล่ายอมจัย,’ which in Thai can be pronounced similarly to ‘เหล้าย้อมใจ,’ meaning drinking liquor or beer to drown one’s sorrows. I don’t think this really conveys the idea of a café.
The portal in Ingress only has a single photo, which is of the electric transformer. I believe it wasn’t added later, but was part of the original submission.
If it cannot be verified whether this Wayspot is truly a café or restaurant, then at the very least, the PokéStop image is definitely incorrect. Could the photo of the electric transformer be removed? I don’t want Pokémon GO players using this Wayspot as a reference to argue that even poor-quality submissions like this can still get approved and become PokéStops.
Hi @HandaTakuya
Aaron has said that they didn’t have enough proof that there’s no cafe and if you have that evidence you should reply to the email.
For the photo problem: you can ask for photo removals over helpchat (wayfarer menue → help → orange bubble) but if that’s the only photo on the wayspot they’ll not do that.
