Fake pokestops in my area

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Knutsons utegym

  • Location (lat/lon): (60.1233211, 15.2015886)

  • City: Ludvika

  • Country: Sweden

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): This location does not exist irl and I have reported it multiple times and it still gets rejected, if needed I can go to the location and take some pictures.

Hello,

Yes, it would be helpful to provide a photo of the area to prove that it doesn’t exist in real life. There is no Street View here, and satellite view isn’t the best on Google Maps either.

Update:

The pokestops are now removed

Mod edit: removed a screenshot that does not comply with ToS

The blue ones are the fake ones that got removed and the red one is a gym that got removed when the new pokestops came. Idk why it got removed but will it come back now that the fake ones are back? And why are 2 of the fake ones still on the map? Thanks

That map is not an official tool. That may be why you’re noticing a discrepancy between what it displays and what’s in game. Please remember to make sure you’re abiding by the ToS.

Hi, I can also see that the wayspot you mention is gone, so no concern there.
I’m not quite sure what you mean by “on the map but not in-game”, but if this is about the scanner image, be aware that scanners like the one you show can very well be incorrect or slow to update, without even mentioning the fact that they are deeply against ToS.
I’m not sure why you need to see it disappear on a scanner if it’s been gone in-game for a while?

Maybe this was a Power Spot in PoGo? They mention “new pokestops came,” so I’m thinking more along the lines of Power Spots. Sounds like this could be the case, and may have been 3rd party imports perhaps.

A scanner may have been their only source to check on the status of the waypoint. Not everyone is familiar with other tools available. I didn’t play ingress for a long time and had no access to the Intel map and only learned about IITC maybe 6-9 months ago.

They’re saying Pokestops instead of Wayspots, so they might not be using Ingress. Also, Ingress and IITC maps do not violate the terms of service, but the map they used did, so could be a 3rd party PoGo map online.

This is why it seems as though the OP is speaking of Power Spots. Power Spots show as duplicates on the nominating map in PoGo, as an orange explanation point. Power Spots, when on the PoGo game map, show up 24 hours before opening, then for 2 days to battle the Max boss, and then disappear for awhile again. Power Spots are transient in nature.

@luvbarbie Can you confirm whether this was a stop, gym, or Power Spot? It sounds like a Power Spot from what you’ve described, not a stop or gym in PoGo. Stops/gyms do come from Wayspots, but Power Spots may come from either unused Wayspots or a 3rd party imported databases.

There used to be one real PokéStop in my area, but it turned into a gym when a fake PokéStop appeared. Then, when another fake PokéStop was added, the real one disappeared completely. Now that the fake ones are gone, why hasn’t the real PokéStop returned?

Understand, just wanted to point out they may not know about the legit tools.

PoGo uses S2 cells to determine whether or not a Wayspot is added to the game, as well as if a gym is created. Stops are determined by L17 S2 cells, while gyms are determined by L14 S2 cells. L14 cells are larger in size than L17, and if there’s only 1 stop in the L14 cell, it won’t have a gym. There needs to be at least 2 Wayspots in a L14 for a gym to appear. More info can be found here:

https://pokemongohub.net/post/featured/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

Please feel free to share the coordinates of the missing gym in question, and someone can check the S2 cells to see if it qualities to be a gym or not.

The fake ones are gone I just want the real one back

There’s no Wayspot at these coordinates. Looking at it on Google Maps and Street View, it appears to be single family private residentials property, or PRP for short. Wayspots on PRP are not allowed, as PRP are ineligible locations.

This appears to be a playground in someones backyard. If it is not, you will need to provide evidence that this property isnt a single home residence and appeal its restoration in the appeals section of this forum.

I am starting to think, just from the title of the Wayspot in your original post, that these may have been playgrounds in the yards of PRP. Utegym is Swedish for outdoor gym, which seems to be a type of playground or outdoor exercise station, and I believe that Knutsons is the family’s last name that lives at the home there. I have known people with the last name of Knutson where I am in the US (large Scandinavian-American population).

The PokéStop I am requesting to get back was correctly placed. The property owner has designated part of their property as a public playground, funded by the neighborhood. This playground is open to the public and regularly used by the community, with clear signage marking where the private property begins. Since the playground is a public space, I believe it is a valid location for a PokéStop and would greatly benefit the local community.

This version emphasizes the public nature of the playground and the community benefit, which are key points for supporting its validity as a PokéStop.

You’ll need to somehow prove that to Niantic now that its been removed.

How?

You could start with photos of the

It still may not help though, because it sounds like the property owner is just allowing the public to use equipment on property that is still SFPRP. You would probably need documentation showing that the property has changed hands to a governing body.
