Per the Government of Alberta website “Alberta’s provincial grazing reserves (PGRs), or commonly referred to as community pastures, are natural (native) grassland and partially cleared and seeded to tame forage. They range in size from 6,602 acres (Seven Persons) to 76,681 acres (Pinhorn). The overall average is close to 22,500 acres.
The main purpose of these reserves is to provide summer pasture for Alberta’s farmers and ranchers on public land, enabling them to use their own land for crop and hay production.”
Note that the text specifically says the reserves are publicly accessible and also names the removed wayspot. Source: Provincial grazing reserves – Overview | Alberta.ca
Additionally, photos taken in the past week are supplied. Exif data on the photos should verify the date taken and location.
The coordinates you’ve provided on this post appear to be in an area that’s marked as a body of water on both Google Maps and OSM. Are you sure you got the right coordinates? Or maybe there’s some sort of mapping error. It does look pretty dry to me on satellite view.
Oh. Yeah the coordinates are just slightly off, sorry. Correct coordinates are 49.170766, -110.948308
Thanks for the appeal, @Goodbird. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
