Hello! It’s me again. I’ve been waiting for months to get my suggestions reviewed. That’s not the problem now, the thing is I just realized that all my recent suggestions go straight to “Not approved” without even being “in voting”. Is this normal? And I can’t even appeal. They just reject all of them (even though they meet the criteria, they’re mostly murals and graffitis). So I guess there’s something going on lately. At least for me! I’ve never experienced this before and actually I got a lot of old suggestions approved (cause I’m a serious player, I’m not one of those who’s trying tricks to get one out of my door). Is there any place where I can ask about this or make a complaint? I tried on x but no answer by now. Thanks!

Hi there! It sounds like ML (Machine Learning) is picking up some of your nominations and rejecting them. Those typically are picked up so quickly that they never go into voting (that I have personally been able to see in time at any rate). You only get one appeal every 20 days, so it’s likely that you already have an appeal that is in process and you will get another soon. If you want to post some of the rejected nominations maybe we can help discern what may have happened. If you don’t want to, I totally understand though.

Niantic uses ML (machine learning ai) to reject nominations that it cannot detect anything eligible in. Those emails will say “our team found” instead of the community decided, and those decisions normally happen around 24 hour after nomination. Does this seem to be the case for you?
You get 2 appeals each on a 20 day timer.

Thank you! I knew there was something going on. It’s annoying and I can’t believe how much appeals I can get. I guess I’ll stop doing this then
I think the picnic tables would simply need a picture that focusses more on 1 table - make 1 table about 70% of your main picture, and then use something like the current image as the supporting pic
The ML rejected your picnic area probably because there’s a lot of ground and other stuff it can pick up in the image- obviously the picture is fine for a human to recognise but the ML isnt human

With the cat graffiti, I don’t think this will be accepted.
I’ve tried a little cat mural which is similar in scope to yours twice now and it was rejected for similar reasons both times. Luckily it’s next to an art studio which is a waypoint so I have stopped trying as itd be lightship only by now.
As you can see, it wasnt temporary as it was there in 2021 and also a year later, and its still there now, but I think because it is small and not elaborate, it is rejected as temporary/not distinct every time. I think the same will happen for you

Yeah, unfortunately I can definitely see these being rejected by ML. I agree with frealafgb’s suggestion for re-nominating the picnic tables! I f it were me, I would appeal the decorative gate when you get another appeal.
