Is this a valid nomination for a POI and if so, what would be the best way to submit it? (rural village)

Greetings

I recently moved to a rural village and have been a bit dismayed over how few waystops are available to play around. Below is a couple of screenshots taken from Pokémon Go, back and front:

As a mostly residential rural area, there are virtually almost no POI that fully comply with conventional nomination criteria. However, some (very few in fact) buildings display traditional mosaics of tile art that are typical to this region of the country and rarely found anywhere else.

Because of that, I thought these might constitute interesting POI for nomination and went exploring. I found this one house that locals told me about because the owners (an elderly couple who don’t live here anymore but come by, every now and then, to take care of plants they keep inside) adorned with swallow figurines.

What’s curious about this is that these actually started attracting real swallows in the spring and summer to mate and nest under the roof tiles of the house. Because of that, the place became know as “Casa Andorinha” (or “House Swallow” in Portuguese) and the owners had a local tile artist make a traditional mosaic that would identify it.

I believe this could make for an ideal POI for nomination, both for the traditional tiles and the opportunity for birdwatchers to observe swallows in the warmer months (there is even a columbophile association on the opposite end of the village) besides being backed by a pretty interesting story behind it.

Below are some pictures I took from the mosaic (close up and edited to fit the tiles in one image; from the ground up, right below it) and the house itself has - you can even see a swallow’s nest over the rightmost window that has stood there since last summer unscathed - including the surrounding area):

Would this (and other mosaics like this one) be a valid POI for nomination, even if not perfectly according to Wayfarer criteria, considering the rural area it’s located on?

If so, what would be the best combination of the photographs I took - or should I take new ones? - description, tags and justification for the nomination?

Thank you in advance!

If this is on SFPRP (single family private residential property) then it is not eligible.

I’m afraid the local wayspot density plays no part in the eligibility of new wayspot. These mosaics look to be on private residential properties so by my reckoning would not be eligible submissions.

It most definitely is not an Airbnb

But thank you for the clarification!

Makes sense. Thank you!

So this is not the same one then. (There wasn’t street view there.) Letting you know that I tried to find something. If you want to leave the actual location, some folks here are good at that, but if you feel it would be doxing yourself, then no worries. I hope you can find some eligible things to submit.

Welcome! That’s a single-family home, and I would not recommend nominating it as single-family private residential property is explicitly not eligible.

I didn’t even look at the picture properly. This is definitely not the same spot. You can see the coastline in yours, but this is deep in the country side, 100+km from the sea.

I will delete that post since it was the wrong area

Hello,

While this is on SFPRP, you may still want to look around to see what you can find. This thread has some really helpful tips about what to look for to nominate in more rural areas.

Residential areas, especially with single family PRP, do tend to be void of things to nominate, but I bet you’ll still be able to find other things out there.
