Issues with title for mural nomination which should be perfectly eligible otherwise

Recently I made a nomination which I didn’t think would prove to be much of an issue getting approved, seeing just how highly Niantic Wayfarer views murals and public art projects like this:

My only issue is that I could not find the actual title of the piece no matter where I looked for it. As it turns out, the reason why I could not find a title for this particular piece is that the artist never actually provided a name for the piece in question, according to city officials:

With that in mind, I decided to roll with a title derived from the artist’s description of the piece, and “Aspects Of Nature” sounded like a title that would fit the overall direction and description of it nicely.

Voters didn’t see it that way though, and when I sent an appeal to Niantic upon the rejection happening, they claimed it was a “generic business” nomination, which it very clearly isn’t. I would nominate it again, but without an actual title existing for the piece it would probably just get rejected for “inaccurate title” again no matter what I put as the title. What do y’all think I should do? I know this should be eligible, but I don’t want to waste nomination slots running around in circles on this.

Title: Aspects Of Nature Mural

Description: An electrical box mural depicting a serene forest scene. Art by Eli Cronin.

Supplemental Info: Murals like these are incredibly interesting to explore, making the community much more vibrant.

Appeal notes: The artist of this piece never actually provided a title for the piece, nor does the local government program in charge of this public art project have a title on record. The title of this Wayspot is derived from the artist’s description of the piece provided here: https://www.dunwoodyga.gov/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/FacilityDirectory/183/258?sortn=FCName&npage=2

Appeal Rejection Note: Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The nomination in question is a regular electric box mural which does not meet our acceptance and Wayfarer criteria. If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: Rejection Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center

Hello,

This appears to be a bad appeals decision to me. You even note the artist in the description, and included a link for the art piece and notes from the artist in your appeal, although for what appears to be the original art piece in a building, not the utility box.

Hopefully staff can take another look at this. Tney have instructed us to post about what we believe to be bad appeals decisions here.

Edit: Just looked at this on Google Maps and Street View, and it’s hard to tell if it’s on private property. I see a driveway to PRP just north of the box, and while a business is listed as being there, it could be one run out of someone’s home. This is noted about areas outside of PRP, which is why I now have to question it:

Ok, so my comment is in good faith. Do you know if the local authority has sanctioned this? If so, can you provide evidence? It’s going to be difficult to get this approved in my opinion as it may be seen as vandalism, even though the artist is known to the community.

This mural is part of the “Green Light Art Project”, which is specifically orchestrated by the city of Dunwoody as an urban enhancement program:

Apology, I missed the link in your original post. Good luck with the appeal.

While i agree that this is a bad appeal decision, this submitter has gotten a lot of personal advice from a combination of ambos and very experienced Wayfinders on what to do. We’ve all encouraged them to resubmit and use a more descruptive title since there is no official title.

The two featured things appear to be bluebells and mycena clarkeana.

I would use those in the title rather than the generic “Aspects of Nature” which could refer to trees or grass or lakes or birds or rotting deer carcasses.
