Hi. Earlier this week an iconic gym of artwork in our town got removed and it respawned in a manipulated pokestop, indicating abuse. The original artwork is still there.
I am very confused. So you have two issues here? One is that the old Wayspot was removed incorrectly? The one you gave the coordinates for shows on an old Ingress map.
Then a new Wayspot became a gym, which is the one you are saying was ai manipulated? I had trouble locating this on the Wayfarer map since the cover is different.
I am not sure why the old gym got removed, the artwork is close to a school but it’s outside of the school grounds.
I looked at the cells and noticed that the removal of the old gym caused the “Hondenuitlaatveld - Concordialaan” wayspot to become a gym. And upon taking a closer look it looks like it contains fake pictures, thus suspecting abuse. Not sure what the way to go is about that but I figured it was worth mentioning, since the pictures got added recently aswell.
Thanks for the appeal, @Kraat Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to restore the Wayspot “Mosaic Balls” in question. If you have additional evidence to share, like geotagged images or 360° video, please submit a new appeal with additional information, and we’ll take another look.
Why does it matter that a gym has changed? Just update the title of that PokéStop to the correct name and the issue is solved.
A dog walking area is a legitimate nomination if there’s a sign there. It has a new photo the correct photo showing a blue sign, so it’s simply a valid nomination.
So the gym changed. So be it. What difference does it make? Update the title, change the description back if necessary, and walk a little bit further its good for the condition.
If there is evidence that it was manipulated, then yes, because that is against the rules. However, as far as I know, when a gym disappears, a newly created PokéStop will always become the new gym.
