A place I’ve never been Investigated: 手羽だるま難波店
request/judging I haven’t done it

Hello and welcome,

This isn’t just about reviewing, but also submitting nominations/edits.

Have you been trying to submit Teba Daruma Namba and has it been getting rejected? If you are, what are you including in your nomination? Are you including anything that’s listed in the message above, or trying to misplace the nomination, which could be leading to others thinking it may be fake? Feel free to provide the nomination, and we’ll be glad to take a look at it.

手羽だるま難波店 I’ve never been there before

Hello @Akipon315

First this warning is to alert you that a poor submission was made on your account. So no sanction has been made.
If you have not done anything related to Wayfarer, please think if someone else might have had access to your account? Do you ever get anyone to sign in for you?

By posting here the Wayfarer Team can look into your account and check. For privacy reasons they might then send you a direct message.

@Akipon315 was discussing this on the BBS of the Pokémon Go Strategy site. At that time, he provided a screenshot of another email, which stated that it was a warning due to low quality and identical reviews.
I was researching this matter and found that the opening date of this “手羽だるま難波店” restaurant is September 10, 2020. It was listed in the “opening date” in the detailed list of restaurants on “食べログ” a restaurant review portal site.

Next, the restaurant has its own website. There, the first image appeals, “Our secret, addictive chicken wings with our original sauce, which has been in business for 40 years.” This is inconsistent with the opening date.

The restaurant is actually a franchise. The “手羽だるま” brand is operated by Eat Wing Corporation, which is looking for franchisees at the link below. The company touts that it has opened 20 stores, including planned store openings, in the first year and a half since the official franchise offering.

According to Eat Wing’s corporate history, the first store of this “手羽だるま” was opened in June, 2018. Heisei 30 in the Japanese calendar is 2018 in the Western calendar.

There is “original sauce with a 40-year tradition,” but not 40 years from the time the first restaurant opened. I believe that this Eat Wing company may have brought the recipe of another restaurant brand that they acquired through a corporate takeover to this “手羽だるま” brand.
This is the information I have been able to find on “手羽だるま難波店”. I do not know what kind of submission it was and how @Akipon315 reviewed it. But depending on how it was submitted, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was reviewed as a “general business”.

When I was looking up this restaurant, I was getting more than one result: the Namba store in Osaka and the Minakuchi store in Shiga, according to Google Maps. The photos for both seem to feature the same logo, a daruma with the face of a chicken. The front of the stores also have similar signage, and the menus look pretty much the same; both even tout “All-you-can-eat” options.

it’s possible that since this is a fairly new franchise, maybe not everyone knows that it most likely is a generic business. Google Maps seems to only list 5 under “手羽だるま” (2 more in Shiga, 2 in Osaka, 1 in Kanagawa), as well as the Minakuchi store in Shiga, which is actual under “Tebadaruma Minakuchi,” with the Japanese kanji included underneath.

Each franchise also seems to be able to create their own websites, which makes them seem less like a franchise/generic business. There certainly could be some confusion when it comes to just the basic info provided on Google Maps, especially if the reviewer doesn’t do a deeper dive.

@Akipon315 If this is just a warning, it doesn’t mean that you cannot use Wayfarer anymore. Warnings tend to be educational, asking one to make sure to review criteria and what may or may not be eligible. A warning can still be appealed, at the below link, but if you don’t even remember reviewing a nomination for this, maybe staff can DM you will some additional info (warnings, like bans, aren’t publicly discussed).

No, warning is effectively equivalent to a one-year ban from using Wayfarer; we must fear that the next mistake, however minor, during the one-year period will result in your account being suspended at the discretion of the Wayfarer team. The PokémonGO suspension is not for a mere 30 days. During those 30 days, there will be numerous events, and if we don’t participate, we will not know when the next one will be. Even if the event is held again, it may not be possible for a cooperative event to take place in some areas because the trainers who have already participated in the event are not interested. For example, if we could not get Origin Palkia or Origin Dialga at GoTour, we would have had to attend the Fukuoka, Japan event held last year to get them. And we have not had another chance to get the combined Kyurem yet. I used the field effect for the entire 3 days I attended GoFest in Osaka, which was held until today. If we were punished for not being able to get it, we would have to ask someone else to get it for ours, and we would be expected to pay a reasonable price. If we were banned during an event and subsequently rescinded for an error, we will not be compensated for not being able to participate in that event.
And no matter how much we ask how we should have been judged, you will only receive a cold “the team can’t answer any more questions” response. I have experienced that myself. I am grateful to Aaron for rescinding the penalty against me.
A warning is not a light punishment.

And if franchisees are accused of reviewing “generic business” so much that they can set up their own websites, then many reviewers will not feel comfortable participating in the review process. The method of submission is very important. It should prove that it is not just a franchise store.

The difference between a warning and a ban is that with a warning you’re still able to partake in everything, whether that be reviewing with Wayfarer or playing the games. Bans do not allow any participation for a certain periid of time. Also, warnings and bans can both be appealed.

What this franchise really needs to do is have 1 website with all their locations on it. I know of several businesses that only have 2 locations but 1 website for both locations.

Again, staff monitor the forums and they may send a DM to the OP. There’s not much publicly that anyone can assist with, since warnings, like bans, are privately discussed.
