Making a waypoint

My family plays Pokémon all the time and our neighborhood was lacking pokestops so we tried going and creating or nominating pokestops for our area but every single thing we nominate (yes we have looked at the criteria and it meets them) it always gets rejected why is that? If you have any questions ask me! Or and answers! Have a amazing day Jesus loves you

you should make a communities, so others can help to approve your nomination. sometimes random people are just playing around by rejecting your nomination

Please share some of these nominations so that we can give proper feedback.

Voting rings are not allowed.

This is unlikely, there is practices in place so that this doesnt happen.

Here are some photos, I understand the one says “lacks cultural meaning” but it helps the environment aswell as I have seen some people just have photos of fire hydrants or random doors with no art or building and hem be accepted why it mine so different? Sorry if that sounded mean, I mean no harm just wondering!

This is very, very bad advice. If you have evidence of people collaborating to reject nominations, you should report them.

Welcome to the forums. I would suggest you focus on the three main criteria in your nominations. They should be a great place to be social, exercise, or explore. Make your nominations with that in mind.

How is a stormwater retention pond, specifically fenced off so as to forbid access, a great place to explore, exercise or be social? I do not see this as being eligible.

Memorial objects such as this plaque (?) at the base of the tree are typically more difficult to get approved. You’d probably want to look to satisfy the exploration criterium here. So the challenge is to show how the pet (?) named on the plaque is somehow significant or important to the community. That’s going to be difficult, IMO. It’s not helpful, either, that we can’t see what the plaque says.

A Wayspot must be a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social in order to be eligible. What was your supporting statement as to how this Stormwater Facility place does that? It seems like just a rules sign to me, but maybe there is something I am missing.

The sidewalk around the stormwater facility (fenced) is an entire walking area and leads to a trail up and around the fence to look at the ducks that sneak into the pond. But I understand your guys feedback and really appreciate you guys taking time to help and give me tips! It means a lot and I will definitely keep it in mind next time! Thank you loves

You’re welcome.

Now, that trail - if it’s actually some sort of official trail – could be eligible on its merit.

Also remember we’re supposed to be able to safely go to the thing being nominated, not just near it.

If you’re comfortable sharing your general location there are several here who will gladly take a look at what they can see on satellite or street view and give you some possible ideas.

Aww thank you! I understand (it is a trail that wasn’t meant to be and is kind of just made by other people walking and the grass getting matted down so maybe it isn’t the best and I appreciate your help! But the sidewalk around the pond is still able to be walked but unfortunately I’m not sure with sharing the location unless someone lives near it I’m sorry thank you for the help sweets!

I think you’re going to struggle with the memorial to a pet, because memorial nominations need to be good places to explore, primarily by offering information to support the notability of the person memorialized: Seating Benches (yes, I know this says benches, but it has guidelines applicable to memorials in general).

Regarding this:

I have seen some people just have photos of fire hydrants or random doors with no art or building and hem be accepted why it mine so different?

The criteria have changed and been clarified over time. Something that was accepted in 2019 might not be accepted today, but might not meet the criteria for removal either, leaving it on the map to confuse people like you. Fire hydrants, though, should be reported for removal as those can block emergency services.

If you’re looking for a shortlist of suggestions for types of places that might be eligible and sitting forgotten, I’ve got one here that might be helpful–though perhaps not perfectly applicable to your exact neighborhood: Great Wayspots "Left on the Ground"

Well.. now we know why it’s been rejected

Hello and welcome to the forum!

This guide is very helpful for new nominators, even if they aren’t rural:

Tips for Rural Nominators

I see that you are from Bonney Lake, WA. If you are comfortable, we can help you find some eligible things in your neighborhood specifically if you share the location. However, if the place is completely residential, the only eligible things are often amenities like a community pool, athletic fields, small parks, or other shared spaces not on private single family residential property. Otherwise, I think there are a lot of eligible things in your city, since the historical society seems very active.

The historical markers are great way spots for example, so are most things listed by the city here.
