Missing pokestop

We have this written up for when I see a wheresmypokestop question:
I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. (The S2 cell use has not been officially confirmed to my knowledge, but staff has acknowledged there is an additional step.) This is a good article about S2 cells and how they have been observed to be used in PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

(Eligible Wayspots are added to Pokemon Go in a sync that happens once a day normally. If it has not been more than 48 hours since it was accepted, it could just be that it has not synced in yet.)

Wayspots that are not eligible to be Pokestops or gyms still have the potential to be used as Power Spots. It appears that there is a 22m distance requirement from any Pokestop or gym for it to be used this way, and it seems there is a limit of two active Power Spots per L14 S2 cell, the same size used to determine gyms. We explorers haven’t figured out the schedule for syncing in new Power Spots, but it is not on a daily basis at this time.

If you would like to leave the title and location, someone here with access to external resources may be able to confirm if there is indeed an issue with the S2 cells. But since the sale to Scopely has affected these Niantic (now NianticSpatial) maps being updated, it may be more difficult. The gps coordinates where you pinned the Wayspot will be after the second photo in the email you received when you submitted the nomination, but the pin may have been moved in voting. Do be aware this is a public forum if you would rather not reveal your location. I realize this is a lot of information to dump on someone, so please ask if you have more questions. Thanks @Cyndiepooh.

Mod Edit: Corrected the typo

Apologies, but a slight correction - that was written by @cyndiepooh, not @cyndiepoah

Thanks for that😅

I took the liberty to coreect the typo :raising_hands:

After checking the map this wayspot was on the Intel map, was it removed?

If not then my text from above still stands.

There is already a wayspot in this cell called “Glass Sign” which might block your wayspot from becoming a pokestop. Read my other message for clarification.

I wanted to, but for some bizarre reason, don’t have permission.

It’s the second time I saw it and it was going to bug me if I said nothing. While I’m here, could you please add the paragraph spacings back in? - it is so much more readable with a blank line between each paragraph :slightly_smiling_face:

I will in the next message, my previous message can not be edited anymore since it was edited by mods.

That’s a shame. I hope I did how you would have done.

Okay, thx

So this picture is not correctly showing the cells or where can i find better cell info?

It can show better picture once you put in the wayspot there. You can get coordinate by clicking wayspot image. Atm we dont have wayspot map. Pogo map is what i am using for submission but it really depend on local people to update

Pogomap is user-submitted data, which means POI might not be in the correct locations, which can matter a lot if near cell boundaries. Plus POI might not be showing at all.

There is no good map now for Pokemon Go. There is a thread about this - Community Feedback: The Importance of a 'Wayspot' Map

As long user use copy paste coordinate from pokestop, it can be accurate. But need local to help on that.

I will sent and edit this message of what I saw on the IITC map.

As you can see your wayspot is already in a occupied cell

It might already be/become a powerspot (in the future)

Assuming the Ingress map is up to date then the lower waypoint on Pogo Map is actually in the cell above, this will clash with you nomination shown in the OP.
