I noticed over the last few days that the pokestop at my apartment complex actually turned into a gym. This was super convent for the two days that it existed. Now logging back in, the gym has been taken away and the pokestop is gone too. Literally with the span of just a couple days, my pokestop turned into a gym and then fully vanished. For what reason would this happen?
Welcome to the forum @Blaamo
It could be that someone reported it as invalid and the report was accepted. Out of curiosity, would you be willing to share the title and coordinates of the wayspot in question?
Thanks @hankwolfman,
The name of the stop is Petrified Wood Mural, and the coordinates are 41.903225,-87.66812
The pokestop actually still exists on campfire as well.
So I’ve looked this up on Street View, and it looks like the last time the Petrified Wood was visible on Street View was all the way back in August 2015. By October 2016 it had been replaced by something else, and by April 2025 it had changed again. I’m guessing this is probably why it was removed.
Strange it was removed considering there’s still a mural in the same spot. Could’ve just updated the photo. Guess someone really wanted that Preservation Easement wayspot to show in-game.
You can try change this to wayspot removal appeal request.
Is that a mural? That looks like an sticker ad for a closed business.
I can see the point that @NianticAaron is making. The mural has been removed and has been replaced by an extremely large poster that is advertising a coffee shop.
This poster might be eligible but is NOT a replacement mural, so the correct process is to submit a wayspot for the poster and remove the wayspot for the mural.
Hard to say without being there in-person. I presume good faith but have the luxury to do so.
To the OP, you can nominate what’s currently there. If approved, it may become a power spot (but may not since not sure how far away it is from the other wayspot occupying the same L17 cell).
