Hello, Explorers!
Hopping in to share some exciting news that will transform the Pokémon GO experience for our dedicated players in rural, urban, and suburban areas of India and Indonesia!
We’ve heard your feedback have been working in close partnership with the Pokémon GO teams in India and Indonesia to bring this to life. We’re thrilled to share that, over the next 48 hours, Trainers in these areas will see some existing Power Spots evolve into PokéStops and Gyms, becoming permanent in-game locations!
This effort is designed to directly benefit Trainers in these areas by providing a more consistent and accessible way to engage with the game. These new permanent locations will help Trainers:
- Level up faster: More opportunities to gain XP, resources and progress through the game with ease.
- Reach Wayfarer eligibility: More Explorers to nominate new Wayspots, submit edits, and review.
How did we select which locations would see this change? We identified locations in these countries that lacked enough permanent in-game locations, (i.e. PokéStops and Gyms) but that had at least one Power Spot. In the locations where this was true, that Power Spot was converted into a new PokéStop or Gym.
Finally, we want to confirm that all of these updated Wayspots will be eligible for editing (photo, title, location, etc), reporting, and will appear in the Duplicate Check section during the Nomination and Review processes. It’s even possible that these Wayspots will also appear in Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom in the future.
We’re incredibly excited to see the positive impact this will have for Trainers in these areas and can’t wait to hear their feedback.
