I had a nomination approved back on August 28, 2025 but it hasn’t shown up.

This is the most likely reason.
The simple version is the map is split in to cells and only 1 waypoint is used as either a pokestop or Gym.
If you have the Title / Location we can take a look.

As expected, your wayspot shares a cell with “Town Crier-G W Jones”.
The Acceptance email does state that not all waypoints are used in all games…
Your nomination may…
- become a Powerspot (Dynamax / Gigantamax) depending on its proximity to other waypoints.
- replace the existing waypoint if that is removed for legitimate reasons. ***
- be used in other Scopely games.
***Do Not attempt to get a legitimate wayspot removed just to get yours on to the map. This is seen as Abuse and can lead to suspension / bans of all accounts (Wayfarer, Pokemon Go and any other Scopely games).
Ahh darn. That really sucks, how is it possible that some pokestops end up on top of each other some times?
I suggest you to learn how s2 cell work to prevent future dissappointment
The cells is quite big. So multiple wayspot can appear inside it. Pokemon go randomly pick one as pokestop/gym and the rest might be used as powerspot in rotation.
If two stops are in different S2 cells, they can be quite close to each other - there is no minimum distance.
In my neighborhood, there is a McDonald’s sized restaurant building with two pokestops - murals on opposite sides of the dining room. The cell line runs through the middle of the room.

Here is an example of 2 gyms being very close to each other that they almost are unclickable sometimes:
Technically, you could get up to 4 extremely close…
We have noticed occasions where the 1 per cell rule is not followed but these are on borrowed time and as Niantic have never discussed the cells we will never know why the rule is still occasionally broken.
There are also the possibility of Sponsored spots.
