don’t do anything that smacks of fake or temporary. if the open field is used as a soccer field, i don’t think that taking a photo of it set up that way would be staging or faking. especially if you can include a link in the supporting section of your nomination that shows the community uses it this way.
there is a reason that whoever set up the existing wayspots didn’t set up any more here. those were the easy ones.
ugh i feel that. but i agree that you should not attempt to move it for game reasons since the pin is correct.
i think if you try to pin the picnic area in the paved loop that is in the empty cell that reviewers would just move the pin to the tables unless there is a really good reason to put it there, like a sign. fudging pins for cell reasons is a slippery slope.
i think the benches are generic and i don’t think they would be accepted.
I don’t really want to move the stop. I wish there was a perfect world I could have it done by a higher up or something.
I worry about that same thing for the picnic area. It seems like I’d have to get lucky with the reviews.
I also worry that the benches would be too generic to be accepted, and I can’t really think of much to back up the reasoning for them.
I think the strongest option I’d have is the one that deetles suggested of taking a picture of the whole park.
For additional context, the reason that I’m so insistent on getting a gym here / have been wanting one for so long, is due to a physical restriction I have. This park is the only one that’s truly safe and convenient for me to get to.
I’m wondering if I could do a wayspot that would be a picture of the whole park, but from the bench that TjoeMi suggested. The current wayspot on the park is just for the swings.
Wayfarer is hard when you are looking for something to submit in a specific spot.
Wayfarer is fun when you are out and about finding cool stuff that would make great Wayspots.
I am not the judge and jury on criteria, just another explorer, one who has been doing this a long time. I have given my opinion about your options, so you can consider it with others. I hate to dash hopes, but don’t want to encourage something I wouldn’t submit, either.
Update: I finally had the chance to visit and nominate a stop at the playground- and it was accepted! I did the picnic area / benches. It was accepted on April 15th, however, it has not appeared in game. I know the nomination was put in the correct cell I needed it to be in, but now I’m worried there’s some sort of arbitrary rounding or location edit that makes it so my nomination didn’t fall into the right cell. I may also have messed up the pin in game, due to its lack of precise pinning. The stop hasn’t appeared in IITC, and I’m pretty sure that’s just because of it’s location proximity. At this point I’m optimistic that there’s just a delay in it’s addition, but I’m also being realistic and not expecting it to appear. I don’t currently have access to IITC (log in popup not working), but here are the coordinates for the approved nomination, in case this can be a clue.
You could try nominating the open space next to the park? Although its not specifically named as a park per se, given that it has its own sign and is “Open from dawn to dusk” its clearly meant as greenspace usable by the public in similar fashion, e.g a de facto park.
Having its own sign I think would be enough to consider it separate from the park itself.
Well that’s frustrating. Is there any way to move it back? I nominated the whole area- bike racks, benches, picnic area and all, and made that clear in my nomination. Was unaware that the locations would be moved and accepted with the move instead. Was also unaware of that site, registering for it now.
Thanks for your response, but the sign is unfortunately no longer there. I’ve been in contact with my village for the last couple weeks in an effort to get something added to the park. Seems like it’s gonna be fruitless and that the area will remain devoid of gyms or content that is engaging enough to keep playing
