Having no photo is normal for imports.

There are two Power Spots visible for me right now. One is an accepted Wayspot I submitted a few years back in an already occupied cell. The other is in an empty cell and some English-sounding business name (I live in Germany) I’ve never heard before and I have lived in this neighbourhood for over 3 decades.
Edit: I searched for the name and apparently the English-sounding business is an e-bike seller who opened up here two years ago and doesn’t even have a physical store. It’s basically a private home from which someone sells bikes.

But here are some folks commenting that they recognize some spots from lightship (theire own submissions), so I asked me why should they all havn’t a photo.

Maybe there werent enough lightship spots to just use those…
But we could have tried to help with that!! I would be so up for submitting things to help with max battles
And if businesses are cool, I could write some GOOD submissions for lots of those, if they dont need to particularly meet critieria in the same way
Also, thinking back to 2016/2017, many places were near unplayable due to a lack of pokestops and gyms, so why the requirement to push a certain number of these power spots by adding any old place? Especially when the lightship database is so much larger now than back then!

As someone who’s been thinking about developing for Lightship this does not give me great confidence in Lightship as a product when even Niantic thinks imported coal is better than the database we’ve been painstakingly building for years…

’ This is my favourite place for getting my car tyre changed. Sometimes, although mostly not, the mechanic says hello so I believe this encourages socialising. They also have a run down trailer cafe which makes me want explore m0ar!!! "

Hey, from what people have been describing, simply having a photo, an accurate title, and a basic description would be a real improvement!
I also just saw a thread that they have appeared at nurseries and schools. My bad auto parts nomination would look fantastic next to one for a school

Aparrently schools are THE new place to max battle
If they wanted schools we could have submitted all those too, tagged as such so that they could have been excluded from becoming certain in game items of course

Feels like for a PoGo only player, this forum is a little defunct, if we are here to spend time discussing the intracacies of wayfarer criteria when I’m sure none of us, not even in the first few months of wayfarer ever submitted so much that wasnt even close to eligible compared to these imports
Ive always thought that “more stops” is good for everyone but not to the extent that we need to submit schools or things that closed 10 years ago! Generic business though? Maybe I need to stop using that rejection reason!

That would actually make much more sense : schools can be a regular stop with no problems, but never a gym, and not available in Ingress.
I asked this question because I really was flabbergasted to see all these ‘non-eligible’ spots appear out of nowhere. The supermarket or the drapes-and tapestry store, okay, but a daycare (and a place that is basically a ‘daycare’ for mentally disabled people) strike me as quite surprising, and I wonder what the criteria for these power spots are ? Definitely not the ones I am by now familiar with…
None of which have been added to the map.
If the Go team are able to spam the database with anything they choose I have no incentive to use up my submissions

Okay so here’s a question maybe for the Niantic Team
What would happen if I submitted these items via wayfarer with a picture, title, description. Would it:
- Get me threatened with a ban for submitting ineligible things
- Be rejected as a duplicate with my image added to the existing import?
- Be rejected by the community/ML for being ineligible, with no duplicate flagged?
- Something else?
Just trying to think if there’s a way to improve these over time, ie adding images and updating things
Edit: just checked the ones near to me, and they don’t show up on my map when going into the submission section, so I don’t think we can do anything with them, sadly - as far as wayfarer is concerned they dont seem to exist

I have a mix of ones that are in the database but not in Go and imports on PRP and some businesses
