I am seeking feedback on a rejected nomination for an official City of Renton environmental marker. It identifies a āSensitive Areaā with wetlands and wildlife (featuring heron and frog icons). I believe it was rejected by the AI because of the āWarningā header, but I feel it meets the criteria for Education and Exploration. I am planning to appeal but wanted to get community advice on my photos and description first. Here are my screenshots of the main photo, supporting photo, and map location.
So, education isnāt part of the criteria.
Explore is one of the main tenets of criteria. However, i fail to see how this meets Explore since it is literally the opposite of that. Itās essentially a keep out sign which means DO NOT explore here.

It is informing pedestrians to stay on the sidewalk and not go over the fence and disturb wildlife.
So itās like a ākeep off the grassā sign, which is not something i would vote to approve.
I understand it has a warning, but Niantic guidelines say that natural features like wetlands need a man-made sign to be eligible. This sign identifies the specific spot, making it a unique landmark for the area.

Iām glad you posted! There is always some nuance to what is eligible, but explore/exercise/socialize always need to already be a great place to be. So unfortunately (like @seaprincesshnb ) I donāt find this to be a naturally acceptable area to encourage people to be.
If youād like to share your general area folks here may be able to suggest alternatives.
Thank you so much for being respectful and for your help! I really appreciate the feedback. As a younger player, Iām still learning all the different Wayfarer rules, and it can be a bit tough to figure out what counts as āEducationalā versus āRegulatory.ā I understand why the āWarningā text is a concern, but I was really hoping the Heron and Frog icons would make it a good āExplorationā spot. Since I already submitted an appeal, Iāll let that finish, but I will definitely use your advice for my future nominations!

Also you can post a draft of your next nomination before sending it in. Folks around here are very good about giving feedback and refining the description, photos, and support information.
