We have a local artist called Peachy, probably quite a good example. The artwork pops up unannounced but signed. Dont believe any have permission but none are removed as theyre pretty cool. The artist is anonymous and is often referred to as creating Banksy style pieces. This is 1 example which I had pinned as a gift postcard
I guess I mention Banksy because this is an international forum and hes well known, but there are many others
I see those six wayspots have been restored. Good. Just don’t make me come back here 7 months from now to get them restored a third time.
And now the rest of my list, please. And judging by the look of things, there might be some new additions in a bit because it seems Niantic has been busy today too.
Thanks. Still exceptions and not the rule, right? Most people wouldn’t jump for joy or go protect their wall if a street artist came and painted their property for most street artists.
We can’t keep trying to make rules for exceptional circumstances. The general idea is that most things fall into the most general category, and then it’s possible to make exceptions for exceptional situations, right?
I didn’t say anything about private property and the definitions say private or public property. Even public property typically has someone who has authority to approve how it is used.
I imagine people would also try to get it removed from their property if it wasn’t welcome. So it would already fail the requirements due to not being permanent.
That’s fine. As a particular case. You had lots of different examples above. We weren’t talking about a particular case, we were talking about what’s considered vandalism and what isn’t considered vandalism. As long as when you submit, you provide evidence that it is truly sanctioned, it shouldn’t be a problem. But it is on the submitter to make that clear, in most cases.
Today’s batch of removals was surprisingly light on the unjustified ones, though it was focused on a part of town I basically never go to, so maybe I missed a few, but the players from that neighborbood can appeal those if they want them back.
This little character has featured plenty of times in my earlier posts in this topic. This one is painted on a public skate ramp, so the location is clearly fine.
And this one doesn’t seem to be from any of the artpiece series I mentioned so far, but it’s still a nice-looking piece with a clear singular style that’s painted on a transformer box on a public sidewalk.
I followed the link to read about the art project, but the website says these painted utility boxes are temporary. “For a couple of months, you can also find painted electricity sockets on power distribution boxes. They’re all by Dutch artist Muugeherder.”
