Niantic Wayfarer In-Game Apparel

Now, I’m not sure if this already exists in games like Ingress, or Peridot. I’m not a Peridot player and, unfortunately, I am only Level 6 on Ingress.

I was thinking of having some sort of Wayfarer In game outfits, like how we have the medals for having a certain amount of Wayfarer Agreements, we should have milestones with in-game outfits!

For example, 500 Agreements gives you a Niantic Wayfarer Hat for Pokémon GO, or 500 Agreements gives you Beacons or Avatars

I just feel like having something like this could give more people an incentive to use Niantic Wayfarer they’re missing out :sob:

Now I know we can’t do this as people. Butttt if someone at Niantic was to read this, maybe they could flag it up to someone higher up.

Would you like there to be In-Game exclusive cosmetics for us to wear for hitting milestones for Niantic Wayfarer?

This could be a good way to promote Wayfarer especially if the avatar items were something really special looking and unique.

I do have mixed opinions on promoting Wayfarer participation, though, without better communication to Niantic game players. Niantic Wayfarer really is its own “game” unto itself. It has its own rules and intricacies that aren’t well explained. We see now how frustrated new Wayfarers can be because they don’t understand well how things work.

This was mooted a while back briefly and vaguely by staff but I don’t think it really went anywhere.

I think there was a general belief by some that it would be abused if the rewards were too enticing.

I would love a hat for my pogo avatar. Even though I hate my avatar since the change.

Even if it is a Niantic game that may be difficult for some copyright owners.
For example, Niantic has endorsed BLM and the LGBT movement.
However, Ingress, which is wholly owned by Niantic, has Rainbow XM and BLM beacons, but PGO does not show anything that is clearly recognizable.
The only thing that can be inferred is the free face painting.
On the other hand, there are Ingress shirts that can be worn by trainer avatars, so in such cases, if the copyright owner approves, there is a possibility that these shirts will appear.
My personal guess is that it would be easier to get approval as a free item than as a giveaway or reward because of the aforementioned.
