Nomination accepted, but to which game?

I got a nomination accepted but it hasn’t showed up in Pogo. How do I know if it’s a flaw or if it’s only visible in other Niantic games?

How long ago was it accepted? There is a daily sync time for Pokemon Go when eligible game locations are added in.

If it has been over a couple of days, I wrote this up to try to explain:

I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to Niantic’s Lightship database. The Wayspot can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

If you would like to give us the title and location of the Wayspot, someone here can check if the S2 cells are the reason. The gps coordinates will be below the second photo in your submission email.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The nomination was approved on Feb 3rd so it’s a bit more than the usual 48 hrs. you can expect. Unfortunately I deleted the submission email so I have to find the coordinates as soon as I get back to my laptop.

No worries. Someone is always here =)

Welcome to the forum!

Keep in mind, the coordinates can change during the review process.

You could also share the approx location and name of the POI and somebody can probably find it.

Keep in mind this is a public forum.

Still working on the second paragraph of my copy/paste. Is this better?

With the title and location of the Wayspot, someone here can check the S2 cells. The easiest way for me to check is with the gps coordinates, which will be below the second photo in your submission email. The pin may have been moved in voting, though, and lots of people here are good at finding Wayspots with even just a general location. Be aware that this is a public forum if you do decide to give this information.

Coordinates are 55.922958, 12.300824

Your nomination is located within the same cell as two other wayspots, " Grøn Cirkelbænk" and " Colourfull Daddy Long Legs"

So no more than two nominations allowed in the same cell? If so, I’m surprised it was approved in the first place.

The Wayspot called “Grøn cirkelbænk” isn’t a pokestop but pops up once in a while as a Dynamax power spot.

Wayspots have no density restrictions.

As Cyndie says, you can have as many Wayspots as you want in a cell.

Pokémon GO only accepts one PokéStop per S2 L17 cell. Ingress only accepts a Portal if it’s 20m or further from another Portal.

But all Wayspots go on to database

So it’s registered but not playable? As written above “Grøn Cirkelbænk” is a Power Spot. “Colorful Daddy…” is a Gym. So is there a reason the new and accepted nomination can’t be a Pokestop?

If it pleases the court, I’d like to approach the bench with Tropical Birdland yet again to show a mass of Wayspots on the map.

It’s in the database. So it’s accepted.

It’s then up to the games whether they use it, per their inclusion rules as I mentioned.

Future games may have different ones so you may see it there

The map @hikaru588 showed you is a map of Ingress portals, not all Wayspots, and not all Pokestops. I think @PkmnTrainerJ is explaining this with a map of all Wayspots which I do not have access to.

Unused accepted wayspots can appear as power spots since power spots dont follow the cell rule that gyms/pokestops do. So you can potentially see it in game during that scenario. But that will be it since another gym/pokestop is in that cell already.

This is kinda confusing since you often see Pokestops side by side in bigger cities.

It can be confusing
It can be because in the past location changes across cell boundaries allowed the moved pokestop would remain visible. This has changed.

Also pokestops only need to be the width of the invisible cell line separating them to enable them both to appear.

And finally there can be sponsored stops and gyms. As these are normally commercial businesses they are much more common in city centres.

So various reasons that it can happen

sponsored stops and gyms do not have to follow the S2 cell rules, so they can appear in cells which already have a stop or a gym.
