Nominations being marked as mismatched location or temporary even tough they aren't

Hello,

I submitted a lot of wayspot nominations during the past summer, and since not many players actually use Wayfarer in the area it took quite some time for them to get out of voting. Now that they are finally out of voting, many wayspots are marked as mismatched locations/temporary even tough they are not. I have around 10 nominations that are in the exact location but are flagged wrongfully.

Hey there, there can be multiple reasons why wayfarer users would decide this way despite it being clear to you that this doesn’t apply, can you share some examples here? Neither the community nor the staff can help you out without those.
Something that can happen for example is, when the satellite view is severely out of date, and then people have trouble confirming your location

In Wayfarer, one of the questions is: Permanent and Distinct.

Sometimes a reviewer will focus on the Distinct part, but the nominator feedback is something about Seasonal/Temporary.

I don’t know if there is a better way for a reviewer to indicate that they think something is not interesting besides Generic business.

I thumbs down on Permanent and Distinct for things like memorial benches all the time. I think it puzzles some when they get something rejected as a generic business, when it’s not, more often.

Hi, thanks for answering I would love to share some of the nominations, could I contact you privately somehow? My town is small and I don’t feel the most comfortable sharing the location on a public forum sorry.

I heard people thumbs down memorial benches, but I got murals flagged as temporary even tough they been here for almost, if not more, than 10 years. Also we have a structure made out of cement which resembles an old war tent commemorating the treaty that was signed in this town. There was also an Info Table sign that was rejected and the cause was listed as “Temporary/Sensational” even tough others like it were accepted without problem.

actual murals or graffiti? I realize this distinction doesn’t translate very well sometimes but there are certain types or styles of painting that are much more likely to be rejected for this reason.

You can post screenshots of you nominations here in the forums. They are listed in your Contribution Management page on the Wayfarer website. You don’t need to share the location, but if the nomination is at an ineligible location, such as a K-12 school or private property, that would help us.

I’m from a small rural town, and do go back there from time to time. I’ve nominated quite a bit there, as well as submitted many edits, and I’ve shared some on the forums. I’ve also shared nominations and edits from the city I live in now. I don’t think many in either areas know I’m Wayfaring, or even know these forums exist.

Actual murals, here is an example:

the location wasn’t mismatched.

Yeah, I know but I still feel quite uncomfortable giving strangers on the internet the location.

This closeup is too close to trust that it wasn’t taken somewhere else. Not saying you did, but that is how it will look in review. The pin matters, but I understand that you don’t want to share that. Will you share your supporting photo?

Unfortunately, there might not be much we can help with if we don’t get all the info for the nominations. This includes title, description, location, supporting text/photo, as all of this gives us insight into how the nomination can be approved upon. The main photo of a mural doesn’t tell us much about it, other than it appears to meet criteria as a mural, but not enough to know if it’s at a location that is eligible, and the title/description/location are accurate.

Here’s the supplementary image, also its a problem that it was tagged as generic when it isn’t.

okay unless there is something wrong with the pin, i believe i would have accepted that. ty for showing us.

I dont know how useful those would be since none of those are in English. I write everything in my native language except the supporting text. But the problem is that its tagged as generic business too. And also its not just one nomination its a whole bunch its like mass “downvote” for some reason, and the nominations that were “IN QUEUE” are suddenly being denied/accepted by “our community” when in reality they haven’t gone through voting.

We have a translator on the forums here, so no one is required to type in English here; it’s just the most common language used. There are also translators built into some web browsers; I use Chrome, and it has Google Translate built into it. There are also other translators online, and even Google Lens can translate text from an image.

We are not told how many community votes are needed for a decision to be made on a nomination, so it’s possible for something to be in queue one minute, and then decided upon the next. Here is the exact text that is in the Wayfarer FAQ section about this:

How many reviews does it take to make a final decision on a Wayspot’s eligibility?

This exact number cannot be disclosed at this time, however, we can say that this depends on the performance of each individual Wayfinder.

Well whats the point of voting then? Why not just be transparent?

Pin is approximately correct ± 5 meters, which i think is correct and accurate enough. The google street view is not updated and its not updated enough. But why are people downvoting it then ? My follow up picture should give people enough information to deduce that location is correct?

Can I somehow talk to a Wayfarer Mod? This is getting ridiculous. I am getting local football clubs established in 1932. denied as they are TEMPORARY or NOT DISTINCT.

If you are getting rejection reasons that are ridiculous, you could try reporting that to help chat. I am going to tag @kawin240 on how to do this, because I never have.
