Nothing is going well

I’ve been regularly proposing PokéStops for a long time, and the number of rejections is simply overwhelming.

Recently, a decorative wine press, emblematic of my town and perfectly compliant with the criteria, was rejected by the system without the slightest explanation. The title and description were well-written, and the quality photos clearly showed the location. It’s easily accessible and poses no danger, even less so than some PokéStops already validated on the side of 90 km/h roads.

This kind of unjustified rejection reinforces the impression that the game is already deeply unfair depending on where you play. And when, on top of that, the few players who go out of their way to improve the experience for their entire community have their efforts swept aside, it’s discouraging. Spending time on the field, sometimes in 35°C heat, only to be rejected for no reason, is not an incentive to continue.

Add to that the fact that there are no real rewards for creating PokéStops: no Poké Balls, no bonus items… Meanwhile, those who don’t contribute benefit just as much. Not to mention the sometimes dubious votes that influence decisions.

In short: if Niantic wants to encourage contribution, it should at least respect and value the time and investment of those who get involved in enriching the game.

Welcome to the forum. Please provide screenshot showing full detail on your nomination (foto, title, description, location, supporting information) if you are comfortable . We cant comment much unless we see it

Hello and welcome @Amen0136

It is disheartening when you receive a sequence of rejections especially if you have been successful in the past it is hard to reconcile.

It is particularly frustrating if the automatic system (nickname Emily) rejects it as you then have to appeal.

Quite rightly we don’t know what might trigger a rejection by Emily.

We will be happy to offer our collective experience if you post the full submission (s) to see if we can help.

If its rejected by AI, you might need to resubmit or appeal. We dont know how AI works and probably never will because it will be abused. But AI have been doing a lot of work to remove ineligible nomination.

@Amen0136 You make interesting points about the “rewards” of wayfarer

Perhaps you could post a separate topic in General Discussion?

Or you might want to add to this topic

Sorry @TjoeMi I picked the wrong place to reply

Thanks can you indicate where this is located please as I can’t tell from the supplementary where it is on street view, and there seems to have been some recent changes.

The location may be part of the issue

I am not seeing full detail, but is it in roundabout? Its disheartening but object in roundabout is ineligble because of safety reason.

On the other side, what is the object? "Could you explain how the object fit any of the following category:

  1. great place to explore
  2. great place to exercize
  3. great place to socialize

Personally i have hundreds of rejection over 11 years of submission. So dont let rejection discourage you. We have nomination support here to improve your nomination

It is indeed in the middle of a roundabout.

@Amen0136 unfortunately you need to be able to safely walk up to and stand directly at the object you’re nominating. For objects in the middle of roundabouts, the wayfarer team deems them to not have safe pedestrian access unless there’s a clearly marked crossing point to the centre of the roundabout, which in this case there is not. I could maybe see the merit of this as a nomination if it was located in a different place, but given that it has no safe pedestrian access currently, I don’t believe your appeal will be successful.

Yes, maybe it’s better to move it to this topic.

Can someone explain to me how there can be pokestops on roundabouts on national roads at 90km/h which are already present in the game when it is in town on a road with a speed bump and at 30km/h on which I was able to walk without fear? Where is the equality of votes and fairness?

If there are Pokestops in roundabouts, these should be reported for removal.

How could this happen? These could have been seeded locations from a database used by Niantic to create places to play, or nominations which were accepted in error. A long time ago, being close enough to spin was seen as good enough, but then it was clarified that you must have safe pedestrian access to the object.

This is not about fairness. Some wayspot have been incorrectly approved in the past. Its simply stay on borrowed time until someone report it. You can report those wayspot in roundabout. Wayfarer will remove it

Moving forward, wayfarer wont accept such nomination. I suggest you move on and find other object

I’m wondering if these are actually Power Spots instead? They got imported in, and the checks on them were a bit…lacking to be polite. They can also be reported for unsafe access.

I’m about to offer the community a very popular restaurant with a particularly unusual decor. A cult and essential meeting place for the city. I read in the wayspot rules that it was possible to propose a restaurant when it is interesting and that it could be a meeting place for players. I’ll send you a little later the photos that make this place unusual. Do you think this place will be validated by the AI but also by the community?

Based on your description it might be possible but know that business like restaurant is normally not acceptable due to generic business. You need appealing evidence that your nomination is “really popular”

Normally its easier to nominate art/mural or playground inside such business

Edited

This sounds good. Restaurants are normally eligible for consideration as they are places to be social. The question is then is it acceptable and that then depends on your evidence.

I look forward to seeing it.

Hi it would be better if you differentiate between eligible and acceptable. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Restaurants are eligible as places that you can socialise.

Any one restaurant nomination then needs to demonstrate it is acceptable

The problem is that the unusual decorations are located in the courtyard of the restaurant which is accessible to everyone. The place closes at night but the pokestop will always be accessible in the game. This will probably be my last proposal. I just received a warning … the reason “the location is not in the exact place”. I postponed the proposal because it is close to another pokestop. There is a maximum of 6/7m of difference in reality. I find this warning discouraging and it does not make me want to continue. I understand that it is good to put restrictions to avoid abuse but here we are talking about a warning for a few meters on a proposal that was simply refused without having appealed. I will just play without contributing to the community as I usually do on other games.

If I read this correctly you are admitting that you mis-placed the waypoint to place in an empty cell just so that it would appear in game.

This is the exact definition of what Niantic call “Abuse”.

6/7 metre is not an accidental mistake.

You must place the nomination either at the poi or at the entrance to it depending on the type of poi.
