Old Accepted Wayspot not Appearing on Map

Although this wayspot was accepted, it’s not appearing on the Wayfarer map. It didn’t make it into Ingress or PoGo because it’s too close to an existing wayspot, but shouldn’t it still appear on the map and be eligible for Pikmin Bloom postcards at least?

)

Can you please check the location.

Wayfarer has R.P. Brooks Park at (32.872428,-96.739725)

Different title, different picture, exactly the same location.

I figured it was close enough, but here you go:

32.8725074, -96.7397502

That makes more sense. Definitely not showing on the wayfarer map. Although Fred the Fun and Friendly Fire Truck (32.872575,-96.739883) is standing as a proxy for the playground and this is part of the playground, I think it has merit as a separate wayspot from the playground.

It isn’t possible to tell whether it was removed because it was seen as a duplicate or for some other reason - only Niantic staff can comment on that.

Right, thanks for checking. I don’t see how anyone would have been able to flag it as a dupe (or some other reason) since it wasn’t in Ingress or PoGo, hence my confusion.

We aren’t staff, but they will respond in to posts in this section. The only answer I can think of is removal, but I don’t see what the reason would have been. Unless they were presented with evidence that these tiles (which can be seen from Street View) have been removed. So I have set this topic to “Watching” to see what the answer is.

I know Cyndie, I posted this with the intention of Niantic staff responding, as they’ve helped me correct other issues I’ve reported through this forum. Thanks for reading though

Hey @papab214 ,

I see that this Wayspot was not added to the maps because of its close proximity to another live Wayspot.

I hope this answers your question.

Best,

OH! In 2019 Ingress was still the database :woman_facepalming:

I actually resubmitted one that had never gone live because of the Ingress portal distance requirement (no longer a thing for anyone skimming), and it was accepted again and did go live, but that was so long ago I had forgotten all about it.

Yes I just saw that.
To explain further …
Back when Ingress was the database submissions had to meet ingress inclusion rules of 20m between submitted portals.
Those that met inclusion in Ingress could then be considered for Pokémon Go and undergo its inclusion rules.

So in this case it didn’t meet inclusion in Ingress so never made it to the actual database.
I believe you can resubmit these but in this case it won’t meet the Pokémon Go rukes but at least will be in. The database.

Thank you, THIS explanation helps. I know where to go from here.
