Older Submissions Getting Reviewed by "Our Team"

I was originally hopeful that some of my stagnant edits & submissions would possibly get reviewed by the Team when I saw they were pulling older stuff for review…but this is a little bit of a surprising “Our Team” decision(email says “Our Team”) if you ask me:

Not going to waste an appeal on it but still its an eyeroll of a decision that Im now going to have to submit another edit for. Anyone else getting bad decisions on older submissions being reviewed by “Our Team?” Or did I just get unlucky with this one? For reference: About Us - Historic Greer Depot, LLC

I also have a number of old edits from last November that have been sitting in voting for months now. One was recently grabbed for “Niantic Review” and rejected last night.

Now, granted my edit had a simple typo in it that I didn’t catch but to me it’s clearly still the better choice than nothing. I’m scratching my head at the thought process that lead to a (consensus?) decision of “nothing” on this one.

Yeah…see my fear is the focus is on clearing the backlog before the split, instead of reviewing the backlog before the split. Quality of the outcome between the two is a big difference.

I have consistently had sub-optimal experiences with submissions that go into Niantic Review. I have come to fear seeing that on my contributions page.

When we – as “the community” – reviews an edit, we do not know which is the original and which is the edit. Sometimes we can figure that out if it’s obvious (like mine). Do Niantic reviewers know which is the original and which is the edit? Is there a heavy bias to choose the original unless the edit is somehow “perfect”? That’s something we probably won’t be told.

This is the first issue ive had with a Niantic review. Really makes me wish I could have included the link as supporting info for the edit but we still dont have that yet unfortunately.

Well frankly too much edit increase backlog. Unless the edit is necesary, I personally refrain from submitting edit.

At the end of the day doing anything in Wayfarer increases the backlog, really :person_shrugging:

True, but i didt actively submit edit for just typo or filling empty description.

While I know that descriptions werent required for submissions in the past, I would hardly call an edit to add a good description to a wayspot ‘unnecessary’. Not going to say that any description is better than no description because that definitely isnt the case but my description does add good and interesting information to a wayspot lacking a description. I dont do edits often but this was from during the “edits” challenge so they were literally asking us to do edits in our community so I put in some effort to make my community more accurate. Just a disappointing outcome all things considered but I wont let it weigh on me :slightly_smiling_face:

They asked us to submit edits. Even gave us rewards for submitting them. I think the idea was that the “automated process” would handle them. It did not keep up with the volume of edits submitted.

A quality database makes Niantic look good and they want these improvements.
