Open letter to niantic about rejected nominations

I am moving this to nomination support as that is a more appropriate area to discuss these.

It’s not really my fault that Iowa doesn’t have a lot of significant landmarks or points of interest that qualify for PokéStops. I’ve tried looking, but the options are limited. If the area doesn’t have eligible locations like public art, historic sites, or community gathering spots, there’s only so much I can do.

If “the well is dry” for new Wayspots, you’ll just have to look further afield and embrace the exploration and exercise side of the games if you want to get more items etc.

not having much is no excuse for submitting (or accepting) wayspots that do not meet criteria.

thanks for your help.

Personally I always think I am done in my area. Can’t possibly add more.

But then the council make a new gazebo and add a community garden, or there’s a new development with a park & basketball court.

yea i keep on submitting them and they get denied.

What do you keep submitting? If you have other things than what you’ve shared (which are ineligible as noted), feel free to share those too for more feedback

Mental note. Ask the local council to install a few Gazebo’s in my local area

I feel that my submissions are valid and meet the requirements, so it’s frustrating to be asked for more photos as if they’re being questioned. It makes me feel like I have to defend work that I believe already stands on its own, and that can be discouraging.

I didn’t even ask them, they just updated the park and there were two new ones.

I do have a new trail in progress with the local council though. Just marking it out and getting info for history for that marker in the trail.

The two you have shared are not eligible as discussed. Do share others if you have them

You’re under no obligation to do so, but I would advise using the wealth of knowledge of this community to see if there’s a way they could be accepted. Something you missed or could improve for example.

I can understand your frustration. I had a look at your general area based in the Zip Code posted in your images and found that there are a few Wayspots already approved in the general vicinity. It may not be in the vicinity that you play in, but doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Not every municipality (sp?) has an abundance of Wayspots that can be submitted, and it can be frustrating.

I checked the hospital to see if I could make other recommendations to submit in the area. I see a memorial bench, directory sign, and entrance sign have been accepted there that I do not believe meet criteria based on what I can see, and would not have submitted or accepted. And a nearby flagpole is a wayspot. But having been accepted, they don’t meet removal criteria. I understand why you are confused on eligibility.

So that we can help more are you happy to share the kind of area you are hoping to submit in?

American suburbs that are mainly residential can be very difficult to find locations to submit.

The Cinemark nearby has an arcade room in game. The theater itself should generally be eligible, too. There may even be permanent art inside, too, that you could have success with.

Well dont be discouraged by rejection. Keep looking. People here can advise on how to improve nomination. Sometimes even a good wayspot need multiple submission and continuous improvement before it can be approved. Once you submit enough nomination you will be able to grasp whats good candidate and whats not.
