I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all the help and support I’ve received. I’ve come to realize that I really got lucky with the PokéStops in my area, and I’m working on being more thoughtful with my submissions. I’m fairly new to forums, but my passion for Pokémon is what brought me here, and I’m truly trying to level up my Pokémon GO experience. I really appreciate the community and all the guidance—it’s been a huge help!

This Hoover Park looks like it could support a few more Poke-things. Stay away from the elementary school but you could submit the ball field and the tennis court. Do you know about how Pokemon Go uses S2 cells?

I’ve definitely heard of S2 cells, but honestly, I find them a bit confusing. A lot of the time, I just wing it and go with what makes sense in the moment. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it all, but I’m getting there!

Short story, only 1 pokestop/gym per cell. If you submit more inside same cell, it might become power stop.

Disclaimer :
Putting wayspot away from its real location into empty cell is subject to abuse ladder system. But things like sport field or building sometimes big enough to encompass multiple cell. Any of this cell might be eligible so plan accordingly.
But remember not to put it on empty cell (wrong location) for the sake of making pokestop/gym.

I tend to go off instinct when it comes to submissions. If I see a lot of PokéStops clustered closely together, I usually won’t submit them, because it just doesn’t feel right to add too many in one area. I’m still learning the best approach, but I try to keep it natural and not overcrowd the space.

the reason i mentioned them is because it can matter where your pin is to show up in game. NEVER pin away from the point of interest, but things like a tennis court have multiple places you could pin them equally accurately. the tennis court would need to be pinned in the other level 17 S2 cell than the pavilion in order for both to show up in game

and that would give you 5 things in the larger level 14 cell so you would be one away from another gym there.

I take a little offense to this  I live in Iowa and many of my nominations have been in far more rural locations than Bettendorf  I do live in (the outskirts of) Des Moines, though.

A lot of these areas get built up with Wayspots, and that’s great. Looking around, there’s lots of great play areas already, which makes it difficult to try and find new ways to expand.

Some lightheaded advice is what a previous iteration of Wayfarer Criteria used to be - “a place you would show a friend visiting from out of town.”

Bettendorf has a lot of history, especially being a river town. Unique public arts, historical buildings, or (one of my favorites) old river mills and other water features (when safely accessible, of course).

I don’t want to overwhelm you with suggestions right now. Try these ones, and having @Gendgi to call on with local knowledge is really going to help you! He has helped me a ton, mostly through the Wayfarer Discussion Discord group.

I’m really focused on making Pokémon GO a fun and accessible part of my everyday life, so submitting Wayspots around my daily routine has become a key goal for me. While I’m definitely adding wherever I go, my main focus right now is on my current local area—making sure it’s as playable as possible for my day-to-day adventures.
