Out of date Wayspot now a dangerous construction zone

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Parque Perros Las Rosas
  • Location (lat/lon): 40,4167700, -3,6205210
  • City: Madrid
  • Country: Spain
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):
  • To begin with, this wayspot no longer exists, because the “park” (if you can consider an empty unremarkable plot a park) has entered construction the past month. Here is a photograph of what you will see once you attempt to enter the plot now:

As you can see, it’s now the entrance for the heavy machinery and the workers that are currently working in the construction of a health care center. Here is another picture of the building-to-be in question, taken a different day from the first photo, from another side of the plot.

That mail I screenshotted was the second time I tried to inform Niantic of the dangers of keeping this out of date wayspot around. Not only it is out of date, but heavy machinery works inside the spot now. Which can endanger both the users and the workers. I want to understand why Niantic intends to keep such a dangerous, out of date wayspot in the games it manages.

Question. Is the park being redeveloped into a new park, or is it being repurposed into flats, homes, business, etc.?

It’s being repurposed into a health care building. It won’t exactly be a hospital, but kind of an Intensive Care Unit for people with long term conditions.

Ok. Is there any information online (via a Government website for example) that you can back that up? That will help decide whether it should be removed or not.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Did not look at the wayspot but just to provide context for your last line:

When you make an in-game report (and this is made very unclear by the games) in most cases Niantic has no idea whether this is a genuine report or a misuse of the function (sometimes people don’t understand what this does, sometimes people abuse the reporting function for in-game advantage related reasons). So outside of extremely obvious cases they will not act on them. In the case of recent construction or removal there is usually no recent satellite or Street View data.

This does not necessarily mean “this wayspot should stay in-game” or “no, everything is fine” or “no, you are abusing the function”. This just means you need to proceed with further evidence, as you did here.

Thank you both for your help and extra context. This is my first time in the forums and I deeply appreciate your aid :two_hearts: I really want to help create a safe play space for everyone.

In respect to what was asked about online information, I was able to find this article online: Así avanza el primer centro de cuidados paliativos pediátricos de España

Aditionally, here is another article from one of the two foundations involved in the creation about the construction of this building: Así avanza el primer centro de cuidados paliativos pediátricos de España - Fundación PORQUEVIVEN

Thanks for the links. Hopefully that will be enough for Niantic staff to consider for removal. @Xenopus put the explanation in a way I couldn’t as to why it would get rejected. I can only ask questions as to why it shouldn’t be rejected. Thanks for sharing the info with us.

(to be clear, it’s just personal experience, but empiric data as collected by the community and also experienced by myself suggests the overwhelming majority of these reports are likely to get rejected at first  )

No shade on you Xeno, but it would be rather nice if NIA processed reports and appeals like they’re supposed to, like the purpose of their design, so players don’t have to waste more of their time making manual appeals here instead.

This definitely shouldnt be a waypoint anymore. More than enough material has been submitted for that to be a reasonable assumption. Players shouldn’t need to source citations online in addition to taking photos and commiting the time to bring it up in the first place.

I forgot to welcome you to the community.

I won’t comment on how Niantic should do their job on this forum. The staff do an incredible job and I guess they don’t have enough bandwidth to spend too much time on each nomination. That is just my opinion.

Thanks for the appeal, @Dralis. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
