Title: Anchor Park Field
Description: This park is Northshore’s largest, can host soccer games and has a paved walking path around it’s entirety
Supplemental Information: Aside from soccer games, I’ve seen people set up disc golf here as well. kids fly kites, race around on the 1/4 paved path and big spot for dogs to run around
Genuinely not seeing how this was rejected for not being distinct enough, or not permanent? The park is large enough it’s impossible to get a photo of the entirety of it, and my understanding is we aren’t supposed to use drones or anything to capture vantage point photos. Trust me this thing is distinct, it’s path going around it is .25 miles and makes for a mile if you loop it 4 times just like a track at a highschool. It’s 1.6 acres!
Just to add, this wasn’t “duplicate” in regards to a nearby wayspot i submitted months ago of the anchor park sign and it’s decorative anchor, which are marked as sign/decorative.
If i need to attempt better photos or add way more to the supplemental information I can, but I’m just curious I suppose why any of you would/wouldn’t approve this so I can get better!
Thanks y’all!
Hello,
Typically, even for fields used for sports, an anchor or place marker is still needed in the main photo, and a tree isn’t going to be the best. Are there soccer goals here at all? There’s no Street View here, and satellite doesn’t show the park, so being quite new could also be an issue.
Also, you may want to consider nominating the walking path separately, as it could be an eligible Wayspot on its own merit.

This area is all very new, nothing much shows on either Google or Bing satellite view and there’s no StreetView. That can make submissions trickier, I see you’ve included a lot of the surrounding area in the supporting photo which helps, if you can get street name signs into the supporting photo then it will also help reviewers confirm the location when there’s limited visibility.
That having been said, there’s already the portal you submitted for Anchor Park nearby, anchored on the anchor. (Great photo, btw)
I think reviewers might expect that existing wayspot to represent the entire park, and the field itself is just an integral part of the park (and therefore not distinct). As DTrain2002 says, you’d probably be best off finding another distinct object within the park.

As is, this just appears to be the park, not a designated field at the park that is its own separate point of interest. A place where you can play soccer is not a permanent soccer field. I hope that distinction helps.
This is not accurate. A lot of folks I know use drones to get the best photos.

As said above - if there is already a wayspot for the park sign, then it’s very unlikely you are going to get another one for “the park in general”. It is possible the reviewers thought this nomination was unfocused. You are much better off submitting all the amenities for the interesting activities you mention as they would be separately eligible. I would also recommend including proof about the park and what is available there (from city/county planning or similar) - it appears to be quite hard to find, from what was admittedly just a quick look.
